My friend was turned away at the door by security for wearing a white v neck t shirt. I ended up going in with my other friends and someone else inside is wearing a white v neck t shirt as well. I asked the four security guards outside why some pearingople we a v neck tee were allowed in and others weren't. One of the security guards then asked me to show them the person inside who was wearing the same thing as my friend. I did so and they responded that that the individual insidd was there before they arrived for duty. I told them that regardless of whether they were working earlier that didn't matter and businesses must be consistent with their dress code policy. I was then told "don't worry about what other people are wearing". I pushed the matter further and said that letting some people and not other is discrimination and was the told to "have a good time or get out". Not only is this bad service, it's illegal to have inconsistent dress code policies. It gets better (or worse depending on your sense of humor). When my friend was turned away for wearing the white v neck t shirt he was told by security to get another shirt and they told him to try the clothing store next door which is called God is Dope. Mind you this occurred around 12:30am on Saturday (I.e. late on a Friday night). The clothing store God is Dope was open past midnight which is very strange. After getting into the argument with security and leaving Mother's around 1am I reconnected with my friend. He told me that when he went into the next-door clothing store he was solicited to buy cocaine. I don't know if there's a connection between the four security guards outside of mothers who recommended my friend go into the store next door or not but it seems extremely fishy, and regardless my friend was turned away based on an inconsistently enforced dress code. I'd love to talk to management about this (as I'm also talking to police about the matter) and I have pictures, albeit blurry, of all 4 security guards who were outside of Mother's last night.
Ohh and I have one more thing to mention. On a previous visit during spring 2015 I was over charged here at Mother's. I was charged an extra $10 dollars on my bill. Luckily i had a copy of the receipt so fraud protection at my bank removed the charge. I posted a negative review on fb and the manager told me they would fix it but I had already had the charge reversed. If you look on Mother's Facebook page there are 64 reviews and around 10 reviewers all say they were overcharged. The majority of reviewers who claim they were overcharged all say they were overcharged the same $10. No, this is not a holding fee as multie people said after waiting a few days to see if the charge would disappear they were charged an additional time. I'm calling visa and Mastercard tommorow to discuss the consistent complaints about Mother's.

Voted best dive bar in ga two years in a row by Grease inc Magazine!! Cheap drinks and great bartenders!!
Not sure how they got 3.3 stars when there is only a single one star review up. KLR777 is right. Absolutley the rudest bartenders in ATL with no bartending skills whatsoever. Piano music was good. There was a live band that came up for 2 or 3 songs that was really good, but then they left. Word was the bar sent them packing in favor of awful house music. The only way this bar manages to drive in patrons is because it is in a bar district, otherwise it would fail miserably.
The first thing we noticed is the place has been deep cleaned Top and bottom!! The new owners have made several changes for the better. New menu, but went back to the original award winning chili receipe. Food takes a few minutes but worth the wait. Everything taste fresh. I love the new sweet potato fries, thick and sweet. Salad with strawberries was a refreshing treat. Been there a few times now and service has been good everyone is friendly. Now that they are doing bands in the new room we will coming back to enjoy live music on weekends.
My girlfriend and I had a lovely time. Great roasts and fantastic coffee cocktails!
Been down w T. West since they opened - best in the city by far, and not just saying that 'cause they Westside (like me). New mastersounds, Ty Segall, Old 97's, moe., some of the best shows in recent memory. you are treated like a friend, the food is good, the bars are convenient and the beer is dank. Outdoor patio/train depot (with its' own bar) can't be beat
The Earl sounds like a great venue!! One of my new favorite bands AudioDamn! is playing there February 21st..They're a soul rock band and just released their debut EP, so pretty pumped to see their set. Check them out. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hIOe1SR3rEY
This has to be a joke...sketchy, drug infested, underage rat hole. The couches in VIP look like post Katrina throwaways. For EDM in Atlanta it's Opera. No one over 21 goes to this place expect parents looking for their kids.
Seeing #Bully perform at The Drunken Unicorn January 31st, and I'm PUMPED. Haven't seen a live show here yet, but Bully is going to be awesome. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCfFUV2Xe7z8iFLXYqsV2rZw
I was charged for drinks I did not order twice by the same bartender. I gave my information to be contacted by a manager, however, the bartender who over charged me got my information and proceeded to text to me. It was utterly unprofessional. I made several attempts to resolve the issue but it seems there is actually no manager. I urge any person who goes to this pub to review your tabs. The bartender actually ripped the itemized part of off mine thinking I would not notice or that I was intoxicated. That was definitely not the case. There are several other reviews stating similar situations so I'm quite sure she is the culprit. I have reported the company to the Better Business Bureau and I advise any person who experience similar issues to do the same. It is obviously consistent behavior. Hopefully my review will keep this from occurring to anyone else. Check out other bars in the area. I never have issues at Nick's. It's a pretty laid back dive bar as well!
Fuyuhiko Ito and Lisa Matsuoka Ito must be laughing all the way to the bank. Umi is a great sushi restaurant but what's up with their prices. They've made so much money that they are already opening another venue? Reservation only cocktail bar? Ridiculous, never would I make a reservation to meet friends for cocktails. I have a life, a busy life!
I agree with everything in this review and would like to add that this place is run by an amazing set of owners and staff. I've been 2-3 times already, and they have treated me and my friends incredibly well. Several of the service staff formerly worked for Reagan and Greg at Holeman and Finch, and I recognized them immediately. The fact that years later they are willing to follow them over to a brand new place speaks volumes for what kind of people run this restaurant. It is people who care a great deal about the level of service and have a lot of love for both their patrons and their staff. This is a rarer combination than it should in the service industry, a lot of places struggle getting it right. I'm excited to see this place flourish over the next few years. It is a total gem. And I will be a regular customer for life.
Rudest bartenders in all of Atlanta
It is sad that I have to give a rating so low. I have been here many of times and this was the first time I had ever experienced the rude personality and character of a waitress named Kelly. The food was great and I have recommended people here for the last 3 years. I brought a guest with me on my last visit and I am glad I got to see my waitress true colors. I placed a tip on my receipt that I admit wasn't the highest, the reason being, I wanted to tip her a $5 in cash in addition. Unfortunately I had cash in my car and proceeded to my car to make sure she had the rest of her tip.
Before I got a chance to make it to my car, she approached me outside at my car and address me about her tip. I let her know that I didn't have enough money on my card. Right before I can tell her I was going to pay the rest of my tip in cash, Kelly says " You don't need to be eating out at this restaurant then...." ---- She never knew I was actually getting cash out the car for her. I am glad that Kelly didn't know. It was great to see her show her true colors and inappropriate style. It definitely doesn't represent the company very well and I can't believe I had to even deal with somebody who obviously could have handled herself more professional.
I'm looking forward for this show at EQ! Not my last. It will be my first time seeing Todd Terry live. Most importantly everyone is amazing including the staff with amazing sound and lighting. Good vibes all around at EQ!
I never knew customer service and professionalism were a thing of the past with Halo Lounge. I have been calling for a week to speak with Scott about a citation letter I received a month after an event there! This is horribly shocking! I paid $50 dollars for valet parking which it has NEVER cost that much before to valet only to receive a letter from Park Atlanta stating that the balance will be forwarded to collections and my car will be subject to a boot and tow if found in Atlanta city limits! This is absurd. I can’t ever seem to get Scott on the phone due to some girl telling me she doesn’t know who the manager is (impossible), she doesn’t have contact to the owner (flat out lie) and that he will contact me within an hour (which never happens because she is not passing the message to him). She has guarded that phone stronger than any Pitbull I know. This is absolutely horrible service. As a patron of the establishment I expect when my car is parked that its parked in the designated areas by the valet. I have never had issues with the shorter valet driver however this night was an experience from HELL. Not only was the club whack now to add insult to injury I receive a letter about a citation I never knew I had! If he parked my car illegally why did he hide the evidence? Idiot, I would eventually find out. I shouldn’t be held responsible for something I paid good money to avoid. I could have kept my $50 and parked the damn car myself. I would never recommend this place after this experience. And that is very unfortunate considering I frequented there several times before and always recommend this place as a hot staple to visit in Atlanta. My company will never do another party there again. I want to speak to the owner.
Excellent venue. One of the last venues you can get close and intimate with artists without a 6 foot fence and 99 security guards between the audience and the stage. I saw Buckwheat Zydeco first time. Second time I saw RJD2. The show went well past 1:00 a.m. One downside was the ladies room was ragged by the end of the night (venue lost one star because of the nasty bathroom).
