Comment Archives: Stories: Food & Drink: 100 Dishes

Re: “Our critics create a bucket list for Atlanta eateries

Hellloooooo recent commenters! You are browsing the 100 Dishes list from 2011, not the 2013 list that published this morning. The date at the top of the post and the fact that, as 'Terry B. Gardner' pointed out, a number of these restaurants are now closed are pretty good indicators.

Sorry if you got lost in the muck of our website, but you can always find the most recent list at:

http://clatl.com/100dishes

To address a few specific notes:

'decaturwineandfooddude' - The grain bowl from Crakes and Ale is on this year's list:

http://clatl.com/atlanta/grain-bowl-at-the…

'Jan McDaniel Kent' - Same with the Varsity:

'Terry B. Gardner' - Your spidey senses must be tingling ...

Hope it helps, and happy eats.

How about the top 100 dishes you wish you had eaten more of before the restaurant died...

Re: “Our critics create a bucket list for Atlanta eateries

That's sad cause there is one Thai restaurant called "BAAN THAI CUISINE in SMYRNA" that I truly falling in love with their authentic home cooking. Me and my friends love their Tom Yum soup with their loaded fresh herbs and all that, that's amazing! Their Pad Thai, no other place can win this place, soooo heavenly good. Im glad we have such a great thai restaurant in our neighborhood. Love their warm and serenity thai decor. Hopefully more people will explore this place. It's an family run restaurant, so they don't overly promote themselves yet. I just love their real Thai foods and I would love to share with you guys. Enjoy guys if you have a chance to try their cooking.

Re: “Our critics create a bucket list for Atlanta eateries

I would need a bucket after going to the Varsity: to throw up in. How can anybody stomach that swill? I take it that people are proud of the fact they can eat it and keep it down, so therefore they rave about it to coerce others to join their "club" of survivors.

And I really can't trust a "best of" list that includes anything from Popeye's. Is Popeye's decent FAST FOOD chicken? I suppose, just as McDonald's is a decent FAST FOOD burger. But putting it on a "best of" list when there are far greater examples of good fried chicken in this city is simply ludicrous and pathetic.

My best friend and I are trying to actually go through these one by one!

Since we're both poor recently graduated college students, we can't do it often, but we try when we can. We're currently at about 5 finished.

Re: “Soups

Yes, we know. It was an organization error on our part. Slurping the sauce would be painful!

Re: “Sandwiches, burgers and buns

Banh mi fans owe it to themselves to drive up to Huy's Sandwiches in Norcross. His offerings (especially the grilled pork) beat Lee's hands down.

You suggested a calzone from Antico Pizza Napoletana? Seriously? They have the best pizza in the city (maybe in the South) and you suggest a calzone... Seriously?

I encourage you to try the 'agnolotti' at Veni Vidi Vici.

It is fabulous and deserves a place on your List of 100 Dishes to Eat before you die!
