Re: “Quick Bites: Victory Sandwich Bar, Brigantine Beer Parlor open and more

Went by the new Victory location today for lunch, and they were definitely not open yet.

"this time at 913 Bernina Ave"

ugh the parking on that street is not so great but I am glad they are coming back after the mixed-use development overtook that area !

Re: “First Look: Illegal Food

The Banh Mi ($14.50) is a burger-like version of the chef's favorite Buford Highway snack from Quoc Huong.

and costs $10 more than a banh-mi at Quoc Huong.

Overpriced nonsense.

Take Uber... and be sure to add their special martini with the crazy smooth German gin.

That food was so damn good!!! And it's great to see them on their own finally.

Re: “Quick Bites: Woodfire Grill closing, chef changes at Last Word, and more

John, like ATL said, there was a Caribou Coffee in the Edgewood complex. Without a drive-thru or attached business, it couldn't stay busy and closed a few years ago

An employee at the Edgewood Kroger told me 5 or 6 years ago that that location was the busiest Kroger in the SE at the time, clearing a million dollars a week. Makes sense to me that a Starbucks could make money there.

Re: “Varuni Napoli shuttered after "fire" damage

So there was smoke coming from a restaurant's chimney and firefighters just busted in and started spraying water everywhere without identifying a fire?

Something doesn't add up.

Re: “Quick Bites: Woodfire Grill closing, chef changes at Last Word, and more

How about we open up a good independent coffee place in the Edgewood center instead of another Starbucks? Oh wait...that's not what the Edgewood Shoppers want.

Re: “Instacart grocery delivery launches in Atlanta

I am an Instacart Shopper in Washington DC and my primary responsibility is to train new shoppers. I'm also a Shift Captain at one of the Whole Foods Stores here in WDC. I personally train the shoppers in the area of picking the best of the best not the best of the worst.

Re: “Quick Bites: Woodfire Grill closing, chef changes at Last Word, and more

I think that Kroger had a Starbucks kiosk when they first opened. Not only does Target have one, but so does Barnes & Noble. I preferred the Caribou that used to be over there. Too many Starbucks I guess.

Re: “First Look: Grand Champion BBQ

The pork is underwhelming, as is the sausage. The brisket is fine, I guess. I'm a GA boy so I dig the pig. The sides are nothing special, hate to disappoint. They're premade in plactic tubs and kept in a warmer all day. Prices are comparable to the rest of Krog Street - pricey, but the quality is not there to justify the costs unlike the other stalls. And to top things off, they're never open! and when they are open they're rude as hell, like you're doing them a favor by buying their food over Yalla or Fred or Gu's or Cockentrice to Tart, which you're not because those are all considerably better choices.
