Re: “Atlanta's other transportation question this year: a higher sales tax to build out Beltline trails, streetscapes, and more

If anyone ever proposes any additional funding for Atlanta, I have 2 simple responses for them:
100 million dollar streetcar to nowhere anyone wants to ride it.
25 million dollar swimming pool in a poverty riddled part of the city.
(somehow the latter is even more absurd than the former)

Sorry but any new funding referendums should be DOA until we clean out City Hall.

Re: “First Slice 6/30/16: Maybe Atlanta drivers suck because most of y'all ain't from Atlanta?

I probably would agree if most of the idiotic stunts and driving tactics that cause accidents are from people who ARE from Atlanta. & I work in claims.

Re: “First Slice 6/30/16: Maybe Atlanta drivers suck because most of y'all ain't from Atlanta?

The worst driving that I have encountered in this country has been in the Washington DC/Baltimore corridor. The road rage all those government employees have is something else.

Re: “First Slice 7/1/16: Tests show more than a dozen Atlanta schools with elevated lead levels

Carstarphen has tried harder than Erroll Davis; proof? Kasim Reed hates her guts and stone walls her at every turn if he possibly can.

Is the APS admin machine the same? Oh yeah, that, fer sure... you can't fire ALL of them, no matter how badly it needs to be done...

Re: “Here's what the inside of O4W's new natatorium will probably look like

It is dishearting that there are those who dislike the post that is two above this one, concerning Kasim and his swimming efforts.

One has to understand that enormous amounts of tax dollars are collected and Arthur Blank and the Chamber have a very stressful job deciding how are tax dollars are spent.

As mayor, Kasim provides much needed stress relief with his thrice weekly nude swims for the bemusement of Arthur and the Chamber, which allows them to spend our dollars as wisely as possible.

Why someone would disparage Kasim Reed, and his valuable contribution to Arthur and the Chamber is most disappointing. Nude bemusement swimming to curry favor is an art form and Kasim Reed is due the credit he deserves for providing this valuable service.

Indeed, Kasim has given exemplary service to Arthur and the Chamber; let's honor that please.

Re: “Woodruff Park chess court shut down 'until further notice'

The issue is not the number of homeless at Woodruff Park but rather the lack of activities for the non-homeless in that same area. Let's face it: the Five Points MARTA station is one of the most horrible looking spots in the entire city and Peachtree Street leading to Underground has absolutely nothing going on there. The areas surrounding Woodruff Park just don't have enough going on. On weekends, Fairlie Poplar shuts down. What we need more of is restaurants and bars to stay open on the weekends and nights. We need more legitimate businesses that are bringing in money (the Walgreens is a step in the right direction) rather than shady pawn shops that abound in Five Points. More than anything, what the neighborhood needs is a gutsy chef who is willing to pick a really horrible location and create an amazing restaurant in the way that Kevin Rathbun took on Krog Street. 15 years ago, Krog Street was one of the roughest neighborhoods in Atlanta and today it's a stunning example of urban restoration. Same thing with Bacchanalia --- 20 years back, Westside was just an amalgam of old warehouses and today it's a thriving neighborhood. Five Points needs a visionary chef or several chefs who will bring money to the neighborhood; frankly, it's the perfect place for great restaurants because the Ritz Carlton and all the high end hotels in Downtown are just a few blocks away.

Re: “First Slice 7/1/16: Tests show more than a dozen Atlanta schools with elevated lead levels

It has always been more important to take care of the pocketbooks of central office administrators in APS than it has been to take are of the educational needs, or for that matter, the health and safety of APS students.

Why people thought things were going to be demonstrably better after all the red flags raised over the current superintendent's hire boggles the mind, other than the fact she replaced the biggest disgrace in education since the turn of the century.

Meet the new boss; same as the old boss.

Re: “Atlanta's other transportation question this year: a higher sales tax to build out Beltline trails, streetscapes, and more

If only the hotel/motel tax went to projects like the BeltLine instead of an unnecessary new stadium. I would argue that the BeltLine promotes tourism and would be a funding candidate under the following standards:

O.C.G.A. 48-13-51(a)(5) provides that this tax may be levied at 7% and that a municipality levying this tax shall expend at least 32.14% of the levy for the purpose of:

(A) promoting tourism, conventions, and trade shows
(B) supporting a facility owned or operated by a state authority for convention and trade show purposes or any other similar or related purposes
(C) supporting a facility owned or operated by a local authority or local government for convention and trade show purposes or any other similar or related purposes
(D) supporting a facility owned or operated by a local government or local authority for convention and trade show purposes or any other similar or related purposes if construction of such facility is funded or was funded in whole or in part by a grant of state funds
(E) for some combination of such purposes

Re: “Atlanta City Councilman faces hundreds of campaign finance allegations

This is the same person pushing the destruction of the library, stadium funding, underground atlanta, ft mcpherson sale, the monorail, and who knows what other backroom deals for hizzoner, developers and others.

Given that they don't have the dignity to resign, what will it take to actually convict one of these thieves?

Re: “Here's what the inside of O4W's new natatorium will probably look like

For those of you that don't believe that downtown has been getting an absurd amount of funds (due to political graft and payback), how do you explain a 24 million dollar pool?! This is the biggest item on the the bond referendum.
Yet people are considering and supporting voting the city govt more tax revenue to spend?

Re: “Time and Place: Stadium guts

@ Babylon Slim
The project you mention is the Grand Mosque, and the construction company is the Saudi Binladin Group. The Grand Mosque project has a construction cost of $26.6 billion and dwarfs the stadium's $1.6 billion cost. The stadium is not in the same league.

Re: “Losing Hanna, Part II

My mother had been diagnosed of Hepatitis B disease 3 years ago. She had been using the interferon therapy (Peg-interferon + Ribavirin) which adversely affected her hemoglobin level as she is also thalassemic (a side effect of using the interferon therapy). Luckily after stopping the treatment.

I read a book by HEALTH MED LAB about natural cures and he recommends these two things as a natural cure for HEPATITIS disease,Hydrogen Peroxide Therapy and Crocodile Protein Peptide. You can Google both of these to get more info. Also, need to do the cleanses, colon, liver, kidney, galbladder. Eat organic foods to get the toxins out of your body so your body can overcome the disease itself. This is important. I am not promoting his book, but I feel it is a must read if you want information on how to beat this awful disease. My mother is now HEPATITIS Negative with his help, Anyway, his email : ( healthmedlab401@gmail.com ) God bless and good luck!

Racial profiling. White politicians get away with worse. Shame on Atlanta. Uhh... etc.
Diminishing eyesight, depression, sleep apnea. The man needs to get some exercise and lay off that saturated fat diet. Politics is stressful. Trying to perpetuate political dynasties is very, very stressful. What's a matta you?

Very similar to the expansion of The Haj in Mecca a la The Bin Laden Group. Now that I think about it the two facilities are similar on many levels.
Falcons Akbar!
