Re: “My very own opium den

Morphine and heroin are pretty similar as far as addiction potential, seeing as if one is addicted to heroin and does some morphine that day they will still get well, get high, or at least get less sick depending on how much they do and how high their tolerence. In fact, heroin ingested through insulfation rather than injection is chemically morphine by the time it is through the blood/brain barrier and the effects are felt; sniffing a bump of h is actually quite a common way that users ingest the drug.

Re: “They wanna rock 'n' roll all night

This can be common problem for many fathers. They have to restrict themselves from doing such things which are not suitable for their kids like drinking wine.

Re: “Numbers game

I will never forget that morning, going to work and seeing the yellw crime tape and presence of police vehicles in the cemetery. I will never forget Jessica Marie Schultz. At that time my own daughter also a Jessica M.S. was working in a high paying job which was also dangerous. She worked in NY and though circumstances were different these 2 young women- each J.M.S. were in perilous situations. It is still painful to me when I think of this young woman and her death which didn't seem to get the attention it should have.

Re: “Ghosts of hotspots past

Anyone, out there, remember The Keyboard Lounge on Piedmont Rd., next door to the ice skating rink? Ruth was the piano player, keep everyone singing along, The owner, I can't recall hes name, played piano with a three piece jazz combo that was next to none. I had so much fun there. On New Years Eve, 74? I was wiped out. The only time in my life I have ever, been intoxicated. I would like to here from anyone, that recalls those days.

Re: “Ghosts of hotspots past

"688 was for old folks" Really? I was in my 20s and lived nearby when the incredible club opened. I saw some of the most amazingly raw and intimate performances by artists such as James Brown/R.E.M./Psychedelic Furs/Billy Idol/Debbie Harry/B52s/Gary Numan/ The Cramps/ and Iggy Pop playing more then three days for touring rehearsals! It was the go to place for many artists of the early 80s!

Re: “Ghosts of hotspots past

OMG! In the mid to late 80's I practicly lived at the Plex! Being friends with the band Hallow's Eve spent more than one show on stage leading the crowd in the "Goblet of Gore" chant. Memories of a by gone era!!! I miss that place. Great Venue to see a band for sure!

Re: “Ghosts of hotspots past

I used to DJ at the Metroplex for AUC parties and the Pheonix (sp) and Lorretta's on Peachtree st.
Member of Weekends.

I have some old video footage DJ's behind the chicken wire...lol

We used to pack that place for our parties and all the punk rock kids who squatted there had to find somewhere to go when we did our thing there.

Yeah, I got lots of historic memories of the late 70s to the late 90s in Atl's nightlife.

Re: “Truckadelic's dead end

I miss them, too! I remember seeing a show in late '97 or '98 at the Star Bar. I saw them there many times...opening for Dave Alvin and opening for Buick MacKane (Alejandro Escovedo's garage band, I saw a Halloween show in drag, and I saw them several times when I moved back to Houston in 2001. The last time that I saw them - at Houston's Continental Club - Dunn told me that they were all frstrated, as Billy points out in the announcement. Dunn said that he had an engineering degree, and was beginning to to believe that he needed to move on to that career. I can't say that I blame them. I still listen to both CDs and the 4-song sampler a lot. I still can't figure out why they dind't make it. Maybe in today's world with the de-emphasis of major labels, they would have made it.

Re: “My very own opium den

Most of this information is incorrect. Anyone who has ever done a google search can see how much raw opium comes from a single score. Also, much of the steps and details were left out. This paper is a blatant work of disinformation designed to discourage people from making their own drugs and not being reliant on the big pharmaceutical corporations.

Re: “WSB-TV

This just happened to my husband today, he was a sub-contractor for Dish-Force in Valdosta GA who contracts for Dish Network. 2 years ago before getting hired he was open and honest with Hope who owns Dish force, that he had a past with a withhold judication in his background, since then we both have been in God graces. 2 days ago he went on a call to a customers house to trouble shoot a reciever, Now this reciever is not a common reciever carried by the company and net worth is over 700 for the reciever alone, which Ed felt it was odd. He did his job to the best of his ability. COme to find out this guy is an Off duty police officer, he ran an unauthorized backgound check on my husband with no probable cause, decided to call Dish-network to tell them they sent a convicted felon to his house now he feels unsafe and has to get an alarm system. Dish-Network in turn called Dish-Force (Hope) who had no choice but to fire my husbandd. Now today he comes home without a job. Acts like this I would think is Illegal.

Re: “Elvis is everywhere

I saw this family on some documentary years ago. His house was all Elvis ~ he'd get rid of furniture to fit more Elvis memorabilia in. His wife left him because of the Elvis obsession. He said he'd gone through several VHS recorders trying to catch any shows that mentioned Elvis. I love Elvis, he is the King, but I'd hate to loose me family over him.
