Do they still have the museum?
Fat racist mayor Jay Davis (son of the late neo-Nazi Max Davis and former representative from Chamblee at the State House) may be a bigot but he isn't stupid. And he likes to have a good time: he used to be a regular at the Pony years back.
InATL giving the break down!!! You're hired!
What was this jab the writer of this piece threw in there? "Last Tuesday, Brookhaven and the Pony inked a deal called a bribe by Brookhaven City Councilwoman Rebecca Williams,"
And they're going against Oasis? Haha these conservative business and political leaders just getting paid off that booty and booze. Haha!
What should be of note is that the only council seat, District 2, up for election had 2 candidates who both were against shutting down the Pink Pony due to what they were hearing from the consitutents. District 2 along with District 4 encompasses most of Buford Highway in Brookhaven.
The only person who voted against the compromise on the Pink Pony was the council person fro the 1st district which is also the farthest districtof the 4 from Buford Highway. She is also the spouse of Mr. Williams of the GA Gang. And also was against the council's other compromise of rolling back last pour time from 4 am to 3 am. She wanted Dunwoody's 2 am last pour time. City of Atlanta is currently at 2:30 am. Chamblee at 3, DeKalb at 4. Not sure what Sandy Springs is.
Also of note was that a Vote Yes Referendum to give Brookhaven TAD and other redevelopment powers that proponents advertised as a "tool" to cure "blighted" (really?) areas of Buford Highway was beaten badly. An over 60% NO vote!
So things are interesting in Brookhaven. I think initially city administrators and advisors thought Brookhaven would be Dunwoody, Sandy Springs or god forbid, Johns Creek. Thankfully the reality is, its not. Hopefully Brookhaven retains some independence from the dogma of some of these other new cities.
Thank goodness the NEW city of Brookhaven has the pockets of pre-existing businesses to fund their endeavors.
