Re: “Pink Pony, Brookhaven come to terms over nude dancing

The Pink Pony is nude dancing, damn, my little girl is going to be really disappointed when I get her this weekend.
I guess I can tell her the pink pony died, can't have her thinking daddy broke another promise.
Oh well, I can take her to the Doll House, buy her a new Barbie doll, she will be OK.

Re: “Pink Pony, Brookhaven come to terms over nude dancing

Fat racist mayor Jay Davis (son of the late neo-Nazi Max Davis and former representative from Chamblee at the State House) may be a bigot but he isn't stupid. And he likes to have a good time: he used to be a regular at the Pony years back.

InATL giving the break down!!! You're hired!

What was this jab the writer of this piece threw in there? "Last Tuesday, Brookhaven and the Pony inked a deal called a bribe by Brookhaven City Councilwoman Rebecca Williams,"

And they're going against Oasis? Haha these conservative business and political leaders just getting paid off that booty and booze. Haha!

Re: “Pink Pony, Brookhaven come to terms over nude dancing

What should be of note is that the only council seat, District 2, up for election had 2 candidates who both were against shutting down the Pink Pony due to what they were hearing from the consitutents. District 2 along with District 4 encompasses most of Buford Highway in Brookhaven.

The only person who voted against the compromise on the Pink Pony was the council person fro the 1st district which is also the farthest districtof the 4 from Buford Highway. She is also the spouse of Mr. Williams of the GA Gang. And also was against the council's other compromise of rolling back last pour time from 4 am to 3 am. She wanted Dunwoody's 2 am last pour time. City of Atlanta is currently at 2:30 am. Chamblee at 3, DeKalb at 4. Not sure what Sandy Springs is.

Also of note was that a Vote Yes Referendum to give Brookhaven TAD and other redevelopment powers that proponents advertised as a "tool" to cure "blighted" (really?) areas of Buford Highway was beaten badly. An over 60% NO vote!

So things are interesting in Brookhaven. I think initially city administrators and advisors thought Brookhaven would be Dunwoody, Sandy Springs or god forbid, Johns Creek. Thankfully the reality is, its not. Hopefully Brookhaven retains some independence from the dogma of some of these other new cities.

Thank goodness the NEW city of Brookhaven has the pockets of pre-existing businesses to fund their endeavors.

Re: “Immigrant day laborers find shelter in Duluth

not exactly sure how the police can lawfully demand a business commit a crime by paying a illegal to work. the business should be FINED, and this Day Labor site should be shut down! This is ridiculous!

Whatever happened to this? If you put a monkey in a skyscraper and asked where the streetcar should go he'd point straight up P'tree.

Re: “Alleged pimp accused of ordering killings is jailed, again

I remember reading the BMF story couple of years back, that was when Creative Loafing was actually good, Mara Shalhoup is a fantastic writer (who actually checks and verifies her information is 100% accurate) and was a wonderful editor for CL....

Not like the shit they put out now.... CL is almost as bad as a high school paper, at least a high school paper checks for facts, not like CL, they just put second hand information from the AJC and other local news outlets....

Bring back Mara to CL to make CL relevant again in Atlanta....

Re: “Pot Fest: Burned again

So it they wont let you book the park for the event, why not everybody show up when it is supposed to take place. Is this not a public park anyone can visit and grill out, and don't you also have freedom of speech. So don't reserve it I am not sure how this park is setup or how they reserve their space. But there is always a way if you make it.

Re: “Police Rage at WSB-TV'S Cop-Killer Story

Yep, Cannabis, that centuries old evil. One of the handful of not only non-toxic, but beneficial, and simple substances on the planet. A plant!

We fall over each other to buy the poisonous CNS depressant, indistinguishable from barbiturates, alcohol on Sunday and act as if slavery were repealed. Yet possession or growth of the non-toxic plant is a felony.

We all either have smoked it, or know someone who does and we know the truth, it's more or less benign compared to what we hawk on TV and sporting events. yet rather than moving on to a more sane position we cling tightly to old habits.

And we wonder why there is such little respect for the Law.
