This is such a cool idea and the performance is great (I've been twice) but unfortunately the hipster douches that turn out for the show talk loudly over the entire performance (and pretty much any performance at the EARL).
I'll never understand why people pay to stand in the venue part of the EARL and talk to their friends the entire time. Save yourself the money and stay in the bar. But I suppose that if you are at the bar you can't post on Instagram to prove "you were there".
Ugliest bunch of girls I've ever seen.
Shuddup ya dumb beatnik
Is this some sort of joke?
Kanye West is a filthy skid mark, like all other (c)rappers.
"Having the crazy ego is played out at this point in my life and career. I used to use it to build up my esteem when nobody believed in me...I need to just get past myself. Drop the bravado and just make dope product. As long as I act like a b---h, this type of sh-- will happen to me. ... I'm not actually a huge douche."
i agree with everything except the last sentence.
I ain't no gay fish!
Real nigga shit
I'm sure there's point buried somewhere in all this bullshit, but I haven't found it yet. Music star thinks he is God's gift to the universe. What else is new?
moved here in 09 and have to say, was stoked to first find Stomp and Stammer and stoked to see it still going
every city needs its own independent music rag/mag to support and criticize it's own scene - its an essential part and I commend Jeff for sticking to it for so many years
and yeah guys, art and its critics are supposed to piss you off and offend - from whichever side they want to come at you - if you can't take the criticism/joke, avoid reading
in Orange County, and Los Angeles to a large degree, the mid 90's to mid 2000's were covered by Skratch, and boy, did they try hard and succeed at pissing people off with a lot more than a political gash here and there - see: http://www.ocweekly.com/2004-06-24/feature…
this guy ate his young, advertisers, you name it - it was great!
"Liberals"/"progressives" are "funny" ....just not intentionally.
Stomp and Stammer just proves that Republicans can't be funny. Just ask Dennis Miller
This mag is "reprehesible." The other philosophy is HORROR! Music is liberal! Conservatives eat babies! Booga Booga Booga!!
"Music is a progressive enterprise by nature."
You mean like...scales?
That is the funniest line I've heard all week.
What is reprehesible about S and S is not the slagging off of bands, but the horrific neo-con politics. Disgusting. Music is a progressive enterprise by nature.
"I can handle it. A lot of people are afraid of not being liked. For most of my adult life I've never had that fear." Greatest Quote
I've always respected Jeff's straightforward and honest philosophy. One of the few guys who put the BackPockets in their place...
Thanks for keeping it real
I've been both abused and welcomed by Jeff Clark. I remember being verbally eviscerated by Clark at the old Cotton Club in midtown (and vice versa) circa '95 or '96, and subsequently finding common ground digitally in '07 or '08. He's a no-BS guy and non BS guys appreciate this. even when one's BS detector is being recalibrated. End of the day, this guy is an asset, not a liability. Keep rockin' JC!
Jeff - you da man!
Thanks for - in 1998 - alerting me to the existence of my now favorite band, Nashville Pussy. I saw the pic of Ruyter in her Captain America rockstar pants in Stomp and Stammer and thought I was going to The Point to see a novelty act. Boy was I wrong!
Thanks also for a million laughs at the expense of dweebs, posers, losers and hacks.
Keep up the good fight.
