what a load of shit
Thank You WW. Some People here have the strangest axes to grind.
From Merriam Webster:
2: having an aggressive and determined spirit : feisty"
This, as far as I'm concerned, is a very accurate description of the spirit behind Living Walls. Other definitions of the word, which suggest a piecemeal operation, is accurate and indicative of the varied approaches LW has employed for fundraising and organizational structure. Please take the time to understand words before you get offended by them.
It was announced at the Downey lecture that LW is currently in the process of seeking 501c3 status to make them officially non-profit.
Scrappy is the new Creative Loafing go-to adjective. It shows up in almost every article/review.
I would like to help in your wall quest...
i guess if it's big it doesn't have to be that good
I agree - everything that Monica has done with Living Walls is purposeful, high-quality, and of high artistic caliber. To refer to her efforts through Livings Walls as "Scrappy" is both insulting to one that appreciates her work and belittling to the organization as a whole.
A "scrappy" nonprofit? Really? Living Walls is neither scrappy nor a nonprofit. Living Walls is a conference that brought over 50 international street artists to our city, put on stellar discussions and presentations, and organized the decoration of formerly lifeless walls with beautiful street art. Pull your head out of your ass and do some research before you report.

THANKS FOR SHARING THIS WITH THOSE OF US THAT WAS RAISED IN CABBAGE TOWN. THERE WAS A LOT OF GOOD PEOPLE THAT CAME OUT OF CABBAGE TOWN. WE WAS CLASSIFIED AS POOR, INDIGENT PEOPLE, WHEN THE TRUTH WAS WE WAS ALL FAMILY, THAT TOOK CARE OF ONE ANOTHER. NO MATTER IF YOU NEEDED A CUP OF SUGAR OR SOMEONE TO WATCH YOUR CHILDREN WHILE THEY WORKED AT THE MILL. LIKE MR. ORAIEN CATLEDGE SAID, THAT IS ALL GONE NOW, NOT JUST FROM CABBAGE TOWN, BUT FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD. I'M A CABBAGE PATCH DOLL MYSELF AND PROUD OF IT!! KATHY WHITLEY!!

like doesn't seem to be the right comment but I am glad you published this.
Stevie Nicks is the best example you could come up with? Get out o the 70's . There has been a bit more abstract fashion to elaborate on since.
Most intriguing. Will surely stop by to see.
Hey CapViewBliss, There's no event information because the event ended. The exhibit closed on June 4. Sorry!
Nice enough article....I'm interested, I'd like to "take a peek." But no contact info. Only the name of the gallery which is buried in the print, no running dates, etc. Annoying!
Here artwork is amazing!!! So glad to see a review of it in Creative Loafing!
Awesome show, awesome review. Definitely take a minute to look at more of this work at http://bradjohnston.blogspot.com/
