Re: “Cheap Eats: Kabob Land

If it aint Persian kabobs, then forget about it. It's like calling an Arabic person Persian...two different worlds.

Re: “Cheap Eats: Kabob Land

Been meaning to check this place out. Obvious comparisons to Agora- though I've heard this may be superior from some.

Re: “The Mercantile goes up-market in Candler Park

I have had several things, soups and brocolli salad that have been shared from this store and really enjoyed them. I am looking forward to visiting in person.

Re: “Cheap Eats: Aviva by Kameel

Love this place! Not only is the food phenomenal but chef Kameel is one of the warmest, most infectious personalities you'll come across. I highly recommend - both for the food and the experience!

Re: “Cheap Eats: Bob

Is this place still open? They never seem to have regular hours, and even when the open sign is on, there's never a soul in there.

Re: “Cheap Eats: Panbury's Double Crust Pies

I've been to both and I think they're both pretty good. I find Panbury's pies to be a little tastier and the crust a little flakier but I'd seek out either place. It's nice to have more unique lunch offerings downtown.

Re: “Cheap Eats: Panbury's Double Crust Pies

Has anyone been who can compare/contrast to Australian Bakery Cafe's offerings?

Re: “Cheap Eats: Panbury's Double Crust Pies

JR, I'd recommend hitting up Pie Local at one of the farmers markets they frequent. They have a seasonal strawberry rhubarb pie that's pretty killer.

Re: “Cheap Eats: Panbury's Double Crust Pies

I skipped reading this review the first time I saw the title link "Cheap Eats: Panbury's Double Crust Pies" because I just assumed this referred to sweet dessert-type pies, of which I have never been a fan. After reading a bunch of other stuff here, I happened to glance at the title again and this time noticed the subtitle "Curb Market newcomer explores the savory side of pie." Now I read it with interest. I really enjoy the meat pies that the English have managed to spread around the world and have often wondered why they are not more common here.

Re: “Cheap Eats: Panbury's Double Crust Pies

Where can I get some killer rhubarb pie that's not the Pie Shop?

Good good. Good deal. Great addition to EAV. Welcome!

Re: “Cheap Eats: Cook Out

Steven, how can you even say it's a crappy product if you've never been there? Skip the burgers, I agree, but they've the best grilled chicken sandwich, hushpuppies, and milkshakes in all of fast food, fast-casual included.

Re: “Cheap Eats: Cook Out

I thought milkshakes were supposed to cost at least 8.00 and hamburgers were supposed to be more too.

Re: “Cheap Eats: Cook Out

Thanks for reading, @CharlieM! While very informative, I believe www.cookoutnc.com is a Cook Out fan site. From the official Cook Out page (http://www.cookout.com): "Currently Cook Out has more than 135 locations all over North Carolina, Virginia, South Carolina, Georgia, Kentucky and Tennessee..."

There aren't any Cook Out locations in Kentucky... http://www.cookoutnc.com/index.php?action=locations

Re: “Cheap Eats: Cook Out

Ewwwwww gross commodity meat, come on people it's quality over quantity. You might as well be eating mcdonalds meat . Never will I eat there. The prices are cheap for a reason, crappy product

The line outside Cookout will have you thinking people haven't tested cooked food before...
