I am from Birmingham but live in Atlanta. As much as I have come to enjoy Atlanta, there is no way to describe the Garage Cafe to someone who has not been there. It is not a place, but an experience.
You made a valiant effort here, but the only way to describe the vibe at Garage is to FEEL it.
You need to check out Tuesday Nights @ El Bar:
this shit is just hypercube whack...
While I may be a little biased (I invented the Whynatte), I must say that this article sums up the Whynatte experience. Well told Mr. Tony Ware. For all of those out there that have not tried the whynatte, or have not been to our site, please stop by and check us out. Submit photos, and we'll happily post them. Send us suede shirts, and we'll happily wear them. Thanks!
At least talk about dem ballz droppin'...
the ATL was lucky to have a writer like you, Tony. of all the love the dance scene has received, none was so heartfelt as yours. you delved into the mayhem of the dark, reminding us why it was so enticing. i too, have laments about the ATL (hence moving to Vancity), but it's the people that made it, and will continue to step up to the plate to bat for the home team. thank you, tony, for all you've done for us: the musicians, the Dj's, the promoters, and the nightlife massive!! the one the only - hevnsnt
Including your first comment I counted a total of 4 shout-outs to me. Take that everyone else!
In honor of your leaving, they announced the title of the last Harry Potter book. "Harry Potter and the Reaming of Ron's Redeye." I hope you're proud.
The Ware Family Awards, Making Me Drink Your Piss When I Was 6, Mom Finding Your Manilla Envelope Full Of Porn But Not Opening It Just Leaving It On Your Bed With A Note: "Trash or Treasure?", Beating French Kids At Street Fighter II, The Felony That Wasn't, Making A Pregnant Woman Cry, Getting Your Legs Run Over By Your Best Friend At The Time And Then Suddenly Becoming Nice To Everyone Cause You Needed Their Help...
Oh, wait, these have shit to do with Atlanta nightlife.
Get your own damn apartment so that I can come visit.
Cafe Diem, Apres, Carrol St...
l.z.beth is my favorite little angry whore. and it was indeed I who had the Camel Toe, but Tyler is the one who can never forget it. And what happened with the bathroom door stays with the bathroom door...unless you read old RedEye columns, then all this makes sense...
How could you leave out getting your head slammed in the bathroom door?
and yes, i will say skaters are damn skanky bitches who will never get a double unicorn. but even though i will always get the same result at the local, i cannot talk shit. i love it even if you don't.
those kids you knew for a short period of time that just lit up your life? those damn ingenues that you just
will never forget? a little 434, a little laurafries.com, l.z. and all the morons....? some of them bring you
coffee, buy your wine, party the night away, provide the drama, look damn fine at restaurants, and give
you constant fodder for endless lectures. aren't they your damn inspiration? and shit, one of them has a
totally rad vocab (emory education and cancer!).
...to not thank the rest of the Bazzaar/Baraonda/Enoteca family, so here's to Lamia, Mario, Tony, Miriam and the rest!
...you taught me that I can't make a proper cappuccino to save my life ;)
I'll miss the RedEye but am happy to see you movin' on up. Good luck in DC!
Happy holidays and buona fortuna
Thank God you're not the guy who always plays "September".....Thanks for the shout out
