I was Joe's room-mate for years, this picture looks like it was taken in our living room on Maple Dr. in Buckhead.I owe him such a deep debt of gratitude for not only booking me into his club when I was in high school,my first"pro" gigs, but also for all the life-altering music he brought to Atlanta. One of the greatest concerts I ever attended was a show he promoted at the Sports Arena,Capt.Beefheart with Ry Cooder opening. He is deeply missed and appreciated!
Joe was a believer in our band Hydra, and was very helpful in those early days. We played his club the 12th Gate, and he was involved in some way, in some capacity, in our development and made sure there was a review published when we did a good show. He was a great guy, and it is a sad day indeed. My thoughts are with his loved ones.
Yeah, those were magical times because likelier than not, people in attendance were whacked outta their minds on LSD and who knows what else. You would think to look back on those crazy days, someone would say thank God we lived to tell about it and wouldn't want to go back. I know I don't.
Joe published my first photograph when I started shooting in Atlanta. It was of Patti Smith in January of 76. Joe was a great guy and always good to be around. RIP, Joe.

They will help you all get your message to people who can make some changes. They are all about this about changing local radio and have been looking for movements to partner with.

Haven't heard it but from the article & title alone, I'm interested. True music from the SOUL (NOT Neo!) will NEVER die.
Yeah, I agree with Sammy. The record execs need to wake up.
I can't believe these guys aren't signed. Following them through their a fir-ju well years into the Gringo Star era as I have, I've been amazed at the band's range. No disrepect to Deerhunter or the Black Lips, but to me this is the premiere Atlanta Indie band!
I love this group. I have been a fan since day one....like three months ago. They have tremendous talent. I look forward to seeing a lot more of them......MUA Kisses
Yessir. Board the spaceship baby...cuz Hollyweerd is where it's at. They are setting the standard for innovation in music and they aint going nowhere but outerspace...so prepare yourselves for a change in Hip-hop music. Fa real.
I am a big supporter of MELLODOPE in Battery 5. I think he is fantastic and very sexy!! I love the music. Keep up the good work Battery 5.
i can't believe you didn't mention any of cooley's songs--'three dimes down,' 'ghost to most,' or 'checkout time in vegas,' or the other 4 he contributed. imo, these are some of the best songs the Truckers have ever recorded. the omission of cooley's contribution, in addition to getting who sings 'you and your crystal meth' wrong really dooms this review. sorry, reeves, you blew it big time on this one. you and creative loafing are better than this sloppy review--please re-post a revised review. thx.
Hood sings "You & Your Crystal Meth". not Cooley....

Bunch of typical liberal, media hipsters. They rock though.
Our entire family are big fans of SKAPE. Even our office has gotten on board to support his music. We are excited to see that he is getting the recognition he deserves and wish him and the members of Battery 5 much success
