Re: “Washed Out crew joins Keath Mead

D'oh! Buren was not yet in the band for Whisper Tames The Lion. S'OK...I can't even keep up with my socks. They're not really a jam band either because no jam band would be caught dead with a power chord. A troubadour Kevn definitely is though so there you go....

Thank you for this tribute to Zac. He did live by a code. He was special. Life in Atlanta will never be the same. I hope you found your peace Zac. I hope you got to see your mom.

Hey that's rude, JR. We spent about 2 and a half minutes on those verses lol. Let me go give back this Georgia music award. We obviously suck.

Re: “Clan Destined together again

This is really good music for people who are into non-melodic, bland, flat, and overall tasteless music. Oh yea and witless.

And I can tell you "how much time went into every line written..." NONE!

Re: “A Q&A with Peter Conlon

"This might kind of define me, but I like Journey a lot." Yep, you're right, Peter, it defines you as exceedingly lame. As long as bands like Journey are your lodestar, Music Midtown will continue as a bland event for unimaginative OTPers.

Re: “A Q&A with Peter Conlon

And yet there was a major port-a-potty fiasco for 2013 as well...

Re: “A Q&A with Peter Conlon

"People who pretend to be musicians who really aren't — especially local musicians. ... If you're working in a bar, and you're a bartender but you play in a band, you're a bartender. It's how you make your living. If you're making your living as a musician full time, you're a musician. This is a business of talent. People in this business seek talent out. If you're talented, someone's gonna find you and you're gonna get discovered. If you're still flailing around and you're in your late 20s or 40s, you probably don't have any talent and you should really look at plan B. A lot of people come to me and they're still waiting to get discovered, but look, it's hard to hide talent. In our business, people will find you and make you a star. When people claim to be musicians but they're working as bartenders or waiters, it's just not the same thing. It takes away from the people who really do have talent."

Peter Conlon - lame in the 80s, the 90s and the Naughties. Even lamer now.

Re: “It’s thrive or die for Criminal Records, Earwax Records and Atlanta’s mom and pop shops

bopga08, I'm not sure how you can even judge how interactive the indie stores are if you've never shopped there. I've always found them helpful beyond belief, and there will always be listening stations and staff ready to offer recommendations and tips on local artists and events. Criminal, at least, already has DJs and rising artists at the store on a regular basis. You can always find the schedule of events on their website.

I disagree that allowing random individuals to play in the store on a whim would necessarily be a good thing. There has to be some quality control that doesn't involve unpleasant confrontations, and consideration should be made not to annoy the paying customers. In the old Criminal location, for example, it was impossible to shop in the comics, toys, or used CDs when the stage was occuapied.

Re: “It’s thrive or die for Criminal Records, Earwax Records and Atlanta’s mom and pop shops

I think it would be better for business if thw stores became more interactive. It sucks that Im saying this b/c I've yet to visit any of the local based music stores even though i practically live in l5p; however, i do not go to any big retailers for music. i mostly buy at shows or download from up and coming and insigned acts. anyway, a thing that can help the stores become more interactive is to have in-store djs and or live local acts performing and not even necessarily as a planned event. as an insigned act myself, i wish there a way to perfrom simply on a wime from instant inspiration. of course it'd would have to be more to the rules than that but it'll make the stores stand out from other places in l5p and create more traffic that hopefully can translate into more sales and more years pf survival for these local landmarks. but what do i know, im just a ga state senior who happens to major in business ;)
