The simple fact is no brewer, distiller or winemaker wants to distribute all on his own. They do want to be able to sell a little bit and promote their brand. Distribution is a pain in the ass that no producer really wants to deal with. Being able to sell a case here or there, or directly serving at festivals isn't going to change that.
There's no threat.
Look at Colorado, for example. producers can distribute, if they want, and some do initially to create brand awareness and build retail relationships, but no one can afford it or deal with the hassle long-term.
