Re: “No. 1 — Atlanta Police Chief Richard Pennington: Can't convince residents that crime is down

This past Friday, Dec. 4, a friend, 21year old Kavader M. McKibben, he went by Montez, was murdered. He was a clerk at the Moreland Package. He was killed in an attempted robbery. There has been little media coverage. On Monday at 7pm there will be a candle lit vigil.
Please come out and show respect for a wonderful young man taken way before his time.

The Vigil will be across the street from the store. Its just south of the Edgewood retail district.

Re: “No. 6 — UGA quarterback Joe Cox: Can't maximize his team's penetration

@teresaabbott: I do know that the game is in Jacksonville. In fact, it's what my original story said, but was changed incorrectly during the editing process. Thanks for bringing it to my attention. The error has been fixed.

Re: “No. 5 — Midtown neighborhood activists: Can't stop nightclub from pouring booze

A more accurate title would be 'Atlanta's Most Popular Means of Getting City Hall Approval - No. 1 - Pay Off'.

There's no other way to explain the city's disregard for the local citizen opinion in favor of a heavily cash run business.

Re: “No. 5 — Midtown neighborhood activists: Can't stop nightclub from pouring booze

The License Review Board's tendency to rubber stamp liquor license applications is actually a widespread problem throughout the city...

Re: “No. 6 — UGA quarterback Joe Cox: Can't maximize his team's penetration

Debbie, if you went to UGA, why did you not know the game is not played in GAINESVILLE - it is JACKSONVILLE.

Re: “No. 6 — UGA quarterback Joe Cox: Can't maximize his team's penetration

Has everyone missed the boat on this article?????
First of all, get the facts straight - UGA-Florida game is NOT PLAYED in Gainesville, FL or GA!!!!
Second of all, I AM UGA and I do not agree with this article at all.
Joe Cox is not the only bulldog on the field. There is no I in TEAM. This is a team and the team sticks together. Alot better than the fans I hear in the stands. No, I am not happy about the results this season but I can bet that the players and the coaches are working their ___es off. I know, I am the mother of a UGA FOOTBALL PLAYER AND STUDENT!
Go Dawgs, a football supporter!

Re: “No. 6 — UGA quarterback Joe Cox: Can't maximize his team's penetration

Whoever wrote this article is obviously some tight jeans, fixed gear riding, Ga Tech wannabe hipster, who cannot stand the fact that UGA has owned the Nerds from for the past 50 years.

As a UGA fan and Alum, no I don't like the results we are getting from Cox either, and will not be too sad to see him go next year.

Talking about how "the Tennessee Tech game game with a $475,000 UGA buyout".... know your shit....EVERY UGA home game profits the UGA Athletic Department around $1.2 Milion in ticket sales and overall revenue from gameday. Thats the difference in UGA scheduling these types of games and Tech doing the same.... Tech has thousands of empty seats in that little 55,000 seat stadium regardless of who they are playing. UGA sells out regardless of who they are playing.

Nice low blow whoever the author of this article is, being that Cox is out in Athens, and may or may not have ever stepped foot in Atlanta. In the time it took you to write this article, 7 tech students got mugged. And each of them forgot to buy tickets to your Thursday night games against those MIGHTY ACC opponents.

TO HELL WITH GEORGIA TECH

Re: “3. Deisha Oliver: Can't play her cello because some jerk sat on her bow and broke it

ahhhh i feel bad saying this but . give me a break.

for the love of god just go to any retail music store and buy a student bow for under $100 until you get the other one repaired and start playing instead of all this nonsense.

Re: “3. Deisha Oliver: Can't play her cello because some jerk sat on her bow and broke it

I don't understand this. I am a cellist, and if my expensive bow broke i would play with the cheapest bow, or anything i could fucking find. until i got the money to fix it in the meantime....

Re: “Atlanta's 11 Least Influential 2008

LET ME ASK IF THE WALL OR THE TUNNEL IS FREE SPACE TO LEAVE A UGLY TAG THEN WHY CANT I PAINT OVER THEM ALL WITH BUTTER BEAN GREEN ? IT'S MY WAY TO EXPRESS MY THOUGHT'S TO THIS MATTER . I KNOW FOR A FACT INMAN PARK DON'T LIKE THE CRAP IN THE TUNNEL SO THERE FOR MAYBE WITH THERE PULL ON THIS MATTER BEING THAT THEY HAVE THE MONIES THEY CAN SUE CABBAGETOWN OVER THE TUNNEL AND HALF OWNERSHIP OF IT . JUST A THOUGHT NOW , FACT'S ARE FACT'S WHAT TRASH IS THERE WILL OVER FLOW ON BOTH SIDES . IT'S A FACT THAT CABBAGETOWN NEVER ASK INMAN PARK ABOUT WHAT THEY THINK OF IT . I'VE TALKED TO MANY PEOPLE ABOUT THIS MATTER ON BOTH SIDES OF THE WALL . WHO OTHER PEOPLE IN CABBAGETOWN HAS DONE THIS NO ONE ? DON'T GET ME WRONG I DO LOVE MY NEIGHBOR'S AND MY NEIGHBORHOOD . I WILL IN TIME HAVE THE CRAP IN THE TUNNEL PAINTED OVER . WHAT COLORS DO YOU LIKE PINK ? I THINK A RAINBOW OF COLORS WOULD BE NICE MY SELF . CABBAGETOWN DON'T OWN IT INMAN PARK DON'T OWN IT CSX DON'T OWN IT NOR THE CITY OF ATLANTA OWNS IT . IT HAS NO OWNERSHIP THOUGH YOU THINK I KNOW SOMEONE OWNS IT OR IT WOULDN'T BE THERE .

HOW MANY PEOPLE IN CABBAGETOWN KNOWS ABOUT AN UPDATE FOR THE CABBAGETOWN NEIGHBORHOOD -OFFICER WOLFE ARRESTED LOUIS KYLE HEARD AT 860 FULTON TERRACE IN FRONT OF A TAGGER GIRL'S HOUSE ( I KNOW FOR A FACT SHE IS A TAGGER ) OFFICER WOLFE CAUGHT HIM SPRAYING ORANGE PAINT AT THAT LOCATION . HE WAS CHARGED WITH '' DEFACING BUILDINGS '' AND HAS A COURT DATE ON THE 8TH OF DEC. MAYBE OUR COURT WATCH FOLKS CAN KEEP TABS ON HIS CASE . THIS WAS SENT FROM LT.BOYCE ON TUESDAY ,OCTOBER 14,2008 AT 11:55 AM IN RE: CABBAGETOWN CRIME REPORT .
NOTHING WAS EVER SAID ABOUT THIS MATTER IN THE CABBAGETOWN NEWS LETTER .

( LT.BOYCE ) BETTER KNOWN AS TRUDY BOYCE SENT THIS EMAIL ON THURSDAY , SEPTEMBER THE 25,2008 AT 12:48 PM IN RE: CABBAGETOWN CRIME REPORT
THIS WAS NEVER SAID IN THE NEWS LETTER
SHE ALSO SAID THE FOLLOWING STATEMENT

I BELIEVE THAT ANY INITIATIVE TO CLEAN AND BEAUTIFY AN AREA CONTRIBUTES TO THE SAFETY AND SECURITY OF CITIZENS . ERADICATION OF GRAFFITI SENDS A MASSAGE THAT THE NEIGHBORHOOD IS NOT TOLERANT OF OTHER VIOLATIONS AS WELL . ADDITIONALLY , A COMMUNITY THAT COMES TOGETHER AROUND ONE TYPE OF CRIME IS MUCH BETTER ORGANIZED TO COMBAT OTHER CRIMES .

FUNNY THING IS WHAT YOU ALL DON'T KNOW IF WE WORKED WITH THE COMMUNITIES OUT SIDE OUR NEIGHBORHOOD LIKE INMAN PARK AND R-TOWN MORE CAN BE DONE ABOUT SOME OF THE CRIMES AND THE TAGGER'S . BUT THEN AGAIN WHEN A ZONE 2 COP'S SON HAS DONE SOME OF THE TAGGING'S HERE IN CABBAGETOWN AND THEY GET CAUGHT BY ONE OF US WE GO TO JAIL AND HIS SON GET'S A PAT ON THE HEAD AND A BOWL OF ICE CREAM .

MAYBE WE CAN DO A REPORT ON THE COP AND THE GUY WHO WENT TO JAIL FOR CATCHING THE YOUTH TAGGER . THE GUY WHO CAUGHT THE COPS SON TAGGING THE WALL HAS THREE WITNESS TO THIS MATTER . IT WAS TOLD TO ME THAT THE COP WAS FROM ZONE 2 BUT WENT TO ZONE 6 TO THREATEN MR. RODNEY BOWMAN THIS IS THE GUY WHO HAS HAD SO MANY WRITE UPS ON HIM NOW ABOUT THE TAGGER'S AND HELPING HIS NEIGHBORHOOD AFTER THE STORM BACK IN MARCH . NOW THIS GUY IS GETTING A BAD RAP BY THE BAD COP WHO HAS A BAD SON WHO HAS DONE BAD THINGS TO MANY OTHERS OUT SIDE THIS MATTER . IT WAS MY UNDERSTANDING THAT MR. BOWMAN WAS AT HIS HOME BOTH TIMES WHEN THE COP'S SON PROVOKED HIM . FIRST GO AROUND THE BOY STOLE HIS PIPE FROM HIS YARD AND THE COP'S WAS GOING TO PUT MR. BOWMAN IN JAIL IF HE WAS TO PRESS ANY CHARGES ON THE COP'S SON . THEN A YEAR LATER THE SAME BOY'S BEING MORE THEN ONE BOY PROVOKED MR BOWMAN ONCE MORE THIS TIME HIS DADDY OVER STEP HIS BOUNDARIES AND WHILE THE COP WAS SO OUTRAGED HE SPIT ON MR. BOWMAN WHILE HE WAS YELLING AND PLACED HIS FINGER IN MR. BOWMAN'S CHEST TELLING HIM HE WILL GO TO JAIL OVER THIS MATTER IF HE DIDNT WATCH OUT . MY QUESTION IS WHY DID HE DO THIS WHEN HE SHOULD HAVE HAD SOME OTHER COP TO DO THIS IN ZONE 6 ? I DON'T KNOW THE LAW BUT I DO KNOW IF IT INVOLVES THE COP IN ANY WAY LIKE HIS SON HE CANT HANDLE THE CASE , BUT THE COP DID AND THE ZONE 6 SUPERIOR OFFICER'S KNEW ABOUT THIS MATTER WHEN THE ZONE 2 COP DID WHAT HE DID . AND WHY DID THE ZONE 2 COP PARK HIS CAR AROUND THE CORNER WHEN THERE WAS MANY PLACES TO PARK UP AND DOWN THE STREET WHEN HE WENT TO BOWMAN'S HOUSE ? AND ALSO WHY DID THE COP LOOK IN MR BOWMAN'S WINDOW WHEN MR. BOWMAN LOCKED THE DOOR AFTER HE WAS THREATENED ?
I GUESS HE WAS AFRAID THE COP WAS GOING TO COME INTO HIS HOUSE OR WORSE HURT HIM OR KILL HIM LIKE THEY KILLED THE OLD BLACK LADY WHILE BACK . MR. BOWMAN HERE IS A LINK TO FILE A COMPLAINT FOR THE COPS IN ZONE 2 AND ZONE 6 FOR THERE MISCONDUCT . I WISH YOU LUCK ON THIS MATTER .
