I know Derr, and he is quite an interesting guy. I lived next door to him for two years. He is much smarter than most people think. He's constantly reading books from the thrift store across the street from his home, some of them pretty deep and listens to classical music on a little transistor radio. I have one of his postcards on my refrigerator that says "MISSING: FRONT HALF OF A RED AND WHITE CAT". He came across as a really mean and angry guy to most people, but he was always very nice and polite to me. My favorite memory of him was one night when we were sitting outside, and the police had been called on one neighbor by another. An officer came over to ask Derr what had happened, and he stood up and threw his arms into the air and with an appropriate expression on his face yelled, "Don't ask me man, I'm certified." He has some interesting larger pieces, but the cards he comes up with are truly unique and mostly funny in a very bizarre way.
Good job LGA XOXO from Ladyfest South 2002, 2004 and 2007

I absolutely adore this artists work. Where her ability to create such intricate and totally outside the box beauty from these random finds is truly a gift. Miss Claire is the ethereal diamond in the rough, who keeps it there...in the rough. Bravo!
"As you age and don't have a partner — and you're also living in poverty plus with mental illness — it's hard to want to keep going,"
Pretty much how I have always envisioned my life ending up.
I have to meet this guy, get some tips to prepare myself, say hello, buy some art.
Very nice profile. CL should do way more of these.
Honestly, Laughing Skull doesn't count because nobody really knows about it....guess it counts now in 2016.
I'd take 'em more seriously if they weren't wearing some Urban Outfitters shoes. Come on. Get the right boots, ladies.
...adding that he created the works for the show over the course of about two weeks, far less than the time he usually takes to produce a piece.
So $100 may actually be overpriced? Why invest in something that I took the time to think about and develop and work on in the proper time when you can buy something cheap I knocked out quickly in hopes of getting a few broke ass buyers hooked on art?
Personally I think art deserves greater respect than that or is it really art.
Sounds like a plan. Very positive, congratulations!
Sounds very positive
And then you get really really rich...just kidding, writing a play myself, good to know there is so much local support.
Congratulations Kendrick. Keep creating.
Very excited to see what this new group is going to bring to the scene! But also, song and scene missing are amazing inclusive shows that have an incredibly diverse array of performers. Something may be "missing" from the scene here, but these two shows are NOT the problem and it kinda sucks to see them mentioned in that context.

That "unfortunate film" will still be a classic decades from now and you will be a deservedly long forgotten has been.
The book also prompted librarian Edi Campbell to host a #LargeFears Monthly Twitter chat. The first one took place in December, the 2nd one happened a few days ago. https://twitter.com/hashtag/largefears
