Jordan was good, Stallone did not seem to care he was there and the film was a snooze fest. Sitting in the back row, I watched everyone in the theatre eventually pull out their phones in boredom. May be a revival commercially, not artistically.
"Spotlight" shows how difficult it is to get the truth out of an organized crime syndicate. A team of Boston journalists worked tirelessly to find out that the Catholic church knowingly was running a massive organized childrape crime syndicate in Boston and around the world back in a time when the Catholic had a powerful influence. It also shows how Catholic followers tried to help the church get away with it.
Make no mistake, this is a movie about organized crime, featuring the Catholic church, the largest organized childrape crime syndicate in the history of the US, and in BRUTAL defiance of Jesus in Matt 18:6-14, where Jesus said childrape was unforgivable.
This movie shows how the Catholic church exhibited the same "code of silence" that the mafia has, without the honor, as they were protecting at least 249 "confessed" pedo-priests in Boston.
The pedo-priests in the Catholic church raped over 1,000 children in Boston alone, thanks to at least 249 pedophile priests, hidden and protected by hundreds of other priests, including Cardinal Law. (Only 90 were known at the time of the movie, but credits at the end show 249).
The Catholic church admitted 4,329 substantiated, accused pedophile priests in the US in their own John Jay report of 2004, and of course they lied. The number is well over 6,900.
And the Catholic church hid & protected 100% of their known pedo-priests, worldwide (Matt 18:6-14). Cowardly, rampant, unforgivable evil, in brutal defiance of Jesus.
The victims of pedophile priest crimes are still trying to get out our stories and expose aiding and abetting by church leaders, which happened all over the country. The story in Spotlight would never break if it was coming up in today's corporate media. For more stories about these crimes and their survivors, please read City of Angels Blog by Kay Ebeling. Now that's funny, you fucking idiot.
Craig is the best Bond. You have to go all the way back to the mad Scot to get one even on his level.
By far the most standard error people today make in situations like this really is looking to buy it inside a boutique. Dresses in the course of these retailers are going to be most likely essentially the most expensive since the producer requirements to contain lots of costs within their price. He needs to buy generating an item
I loved Man on Wire and had been pumped for months about this film coming out. Unfortunately Zemeckis did botch this one, it was not a great movie and felt like Zemeckis was just trying to bring the documentary to life instead of making a movie that could stand on its own.
With that said it is worth watching just for the time he spends on the wire, very scary if you have even just a touch of a fear of heights.
To armchair QB this one, he should have condensed all the early story stuff in to 15 or so minutes tops and focused on the "coup" preparation and the actual walk. I think doing the 45 minute walk in real time would have worked and would have drawn in audiences in the same way horror movies do, a scary experience, a thrill ride.
I went to another movie a couple days later after seeing this and stayed around just to see this part of the movie again. The theatre was literally empty but I did appreciate the private screening. I was thrilled and scared again and could watch that part of the movie over and over.
Such rich material, could have been great, oh well.
The preview we saw before Jurassic Park 3D was amazing. Felt more like a Universal ride than film. And there's nothing wrong with that.
"Local product RonReaco Lee..."
The hyper-bizniz tone so casually adopted in the 21st C is SOOO freakin' cool !
I actually laughed quite a bit at this one but I came in with quite a bit of good will towards Redford and Nolte and am an easy laugh in general.
With that said, its not a great movie, it had a we got the money, the schedule works out, lets knock out a film, feel to it. It basically works but nothing is inspired.
Perfect film to watch on a flight just before you go to sleep.
My mother owned Three Sisters. I am the youngest of the Three Sisters it was named for. We closed it around just after Zombieland was realeased. After my granny, the manager, passed away from lung cancer that had spread; it didn't feel right without her, so we sold it. I miss that place so much...
I am looking forward to the film as I have just cracked open Infinite Jest. My biggest curiosity, was Lipsky jealous of the so-called genius, or of the success and attention or, maybe, both?
Guess I also have to put Although Of Course You End Up Becoming Yourself: A Road Trip with David Foster Wallace on my reading list.
Damn, life is too short when you are a curious person.
There was more than a wink from the U.S. It had trained and armed the military prior to the killings and continued to do so for decades after. It had lists of people it wanted to be sure were dealt with; it shared them with the military and checked off the names. U.S. companies quickly moved in to profit from the massacres.
The East Timor and Indonesia Action Network (etan.org) and other rights groups are demanding that the U.S. government release its records and acknowledgeits. role in Indonesia mass violence. There is a petition here: http://chn.ge/1v50Edj
Indeed the military did fan anti-communist sentiment, with it's anti-communist propaganda promoted by the USA, however the military was protecting itself by using the locals to do the killings. So this was an Indonesian military operation with a wink from team USA. In the movie, there are self-admissions by the local "killers" they were working for the military, and for their work they were rewarded and protected by the military.
You think maybe SPOILER ALERT might help before you give away the entire plot?
