Re: “First Slice 7/3/15: Drug Market Initiative offers suspected dealers one last chance to stop

No tax incentives would be a big mistake, but 30% is really high, don't you think? I mean, 20 is enough, but an extra 10 just to include the GA logo at the very end of the credits seems like an unnecessary giveaway. That's millions & millions of dollars. 20% should be the cap with the stipulation that the GA logo be included at the end of the credits anyway. It's not like Hollywood isn't getting discounted labor here as well. And besides, David Koechner loves Hotlanta!

Re: “First Slice 7/3/15: Drug Market Initiative offers suspected dealers one last chance to stop

Several hundred million in tax credits over a few years...several billion in economic activity as a result in the state over the same period.

Generally I feel the same as all ya'll negatonians about tax credits...but I can add and subtract.

It would be great if the "playing field was level" and there was no tax credit game in film production, but that's not how the game is played. It is a great industry to have around and it's worth the "cost"...which is all on paper, anyway. It's not like they're cutting checks to Spielberg.

The National Review? Ha. Thanks for the link - here's the relevant quote in a nutshell:

"In response, Hollywood producers have threatened to take their film projects to states that offer larger film tax
credits, such as Georgia."

Re: “First Slice 7/3/15: Drug Market Initiative offers suspected dealers one last chance to stop

The powers that be want all that fare money flowing through city hall and not through MARTA. It's crazy that the City of Atlanta won't use Breeze when CCT, Gwinnett Transit, and Xpress all accept it.

Re: “First Slice 7/3/15: Drug Market Initiative offers suspected dealers one last chance to stop

The issue with tax credit isn't that there are gains, it is that the monies could be better utilized. Most studies show that it is not a net win.
Add Louisiana to the list of states eliminating or capping their credits: http://www.nationalreview.com/article/4206…

It's interesting that in a state where medical insurance is a considered a govt hand out, we don't mind dolling hundreds of millions to wealthy Hollywood productions.

So the Streetcar is charging to ride in December? That should kill it faster than anything opponents could do. Wasn't it just 5 weeks ago that Kasim Reed said the Streetcar would be free for the rest of the year?

And they want to use an entirely new fare system, separate from MARTA's Breeze card?

Jesus, these people could fuck up making a grilled cheese sandwich.

Re: “Recreational marijuana in Georgia? Don’t hold your breath.

Pennsylvania male here, surfing for marijuana news in all states. Honestly looking for the closest state to drive to stock up! At this point, there's nowhere close. Who wants the money of all the people in closed minded states like mine? After all, Pennsylvania is Philadelphia and Pittsburgh on the edges with Georgia in the middle!!!

Come on down to southwest Atlanta teachers, nurses, and officers, we'd love to have you! Seriously, the people are awesome, the houses are cute and offered at a great value, and there are a lot of people working really hard to improve the area and schools.

"Exactly who "gains" by Gov. Deal offering a 30% tax incentive, to the film industry?"

The thousands of people in production making great money, and the families they support.

And the sky is blue because the way sunlight reflects off particles in the atmosphere.

Any other stupid questions I can help you with?

^nah, it's not wealth envy. It's not liking the attitude that comes so often with wealth and that is on full display in Buckhead. But, on the other hand, you also threw in a false dichotomy and a racist aside so I don't think anyone's gonna sweat what your opinion is.

Exactly who "gains" by Gov. Deal offering a 30% tax incentive, to the film industry? Film Extra's, who earn
$7.25/hr? Or the 1%?

What do the leaders of North Carolina and Florida understand, that the Governor of Georgia continues to
gloss over? Facts?

Re: “SI: City's MLS team will be named Atlanta United FC

Thank da lort the team wasn't named terminus lesions... Anything but that.. Seriously terminus lesions are a bunch of fat people with drums. Can they even see the damn ball with all that belly meat in the way? 100 people won't fill up that new stadium. Bc we all know as soon as this team gets in a rough spot Atlanta fans stop supporting and uncle Arthur will be begging for Mexicans to pack that new stadium.. Like we do 50,000 +
And Mexicans will not support no team named terminal lesions.. Fuck outta here Now AUFC I think we can all agree fits our beautiful city and the diversity we have. Fuck all that terminal lesions crap..

This ain't no pie eating contest bitch!
