"Sounds like the fix is in for Deal just like when Sonny Perdue shockingly defeated Roy Barnes in 2002."
Nobody was shocked except Roy Barnes and his fellow Dems. He lost by over 5%, partly because he angered the teachers. The polls predicted it in advance.
According to the Council website, these are the members of this committee:
Community Development/Human Resources
Andre Dickens- Chair
Ivory Lee Young, Jr. – Vice Chair
Michael Julian Bond
Keisha Lance Bottoms
Is this not right? CT Martin is on it as well?
Councilmembers voting for this should really reexamine their priorities. Regulating art on private property shouldn't be on anyone's to-do list.
Only Mitt Romney could be a bigger king of outsourcing. Republicans won't be satisfied until everyone is in poverty but the 1%.
Thats it in the nutt shell they want your money...... I say cut down on the billboards and save the trees.
If I say what I really feel about the city leaders the FBI and HLS might try to knock me off or put me in jail.
@ JF Williams -They will be allowed to vote using provisional ballots. However those types of ballots can be challenged and can end up just being thrown away.
I think those 40 or 50 thousand folks should go march on the capitol and then go visit that judge and ask why their right to vote doesn't matter.
Sounds like the fix is in for Deal just like when Sonny Perdue shockingly defeated Roy Barnes in 2002.
Good now maybe the High can start running exhibitions more interesting than ones about cars.
The city has no business being arbiters of art. They are grossly overstepping their bounds. This will cost the city plenty of tax payer money to lose this case in court.
Cutting down trees? Billboards can be classified as murals on private property.
tniapflp first you have to cut down the trees to put the advertising on private property....
But I suppose advertising on private property will still be fine...
Zed, if you mean world class shtty, then yes! This if fckng disgraceful and everyone of these councilpersons who pushed this through should be heckled every time they show their shameful faces in public.
Look there's ol Grogly Winslow, who I've seen at multiple Elevate and Beltline events. She was probably just there because she thought there would be wine though.
At one time I Rodney Bowman was at war with the writers ( taggers) but now I stand with them.
If I see them doing any thing on any wall and yes even a house I will turn a blind eye.... Just like the city does when it comes to safety and doing any thing about the drugs and the dealers in my neighborhood.
To all the writers who know me and or knows of me I'm very sorry for what happen years ago. And for the few of the writers who had nerve enough to come to me and talk to me I look up to you as a person.
As for the leaders who sit on their FAT ass you can kiss my white thin ass..... and Nat you can be the first to kiss it.
I thought Kwanza was a holiday
Butler being pro-Brookhaven, pro-baby cities and associated with the Boyer is enough for my vote for one of her opponents. Danese seems to make some sense.
It is absurd and indicative of the gross negligence inflicted by city leaders on the cultural community. When this ordinance was brought before NPU's ( neighborhood planning units) and Zoning Review Board this past spring it was shot down unanimously. Why does ATL have to revisit and wallow in this type of stupidity?
It'd nice to get the streetcar going good before we think about expanding it.
wow. district 12's disgrace is exposed to the world
Could this be the legislation that finally makes Atlanta a world class city, yall?
