Re: “Republican National Convention Day 4: The speech that never ends

"He's got the (R) next to his name so all is well."

R don't mean shit to me.

"then the country can burn"

You can add this all day to what I said but it will never mean that I said it.

Re: “Residents, preservationists facepalm over Engineer's Bookstore demolition plan

Obvious here that "historic" is a means to an end, fending off a gas station. It cheapens the legitimate need for preservation.

Re: “Republican National Convention Day 4: The speech that never ends

Yea, who gives a shit about coherent policy, protecting ourselves and our allies with NATO or equal rights for immigrant citizens, so long as he leaves the "lefties sputter and fume like above" then the country can burn, amirite? He's got the (R) next to his name so all is well.

I understand that you're off your meds and struggle understanding the definitions of words even when they are cut and pasted for you, but I admire that you don't know how bananas some of your comments are.

The last time I saw an out of touch old man ramble as nonsensically as you was last night during Trump's speech.

Now, please tell us more about uncle Don, that seems relevant to the historical status of this building.

Re: “Republican National Convention Day 4: The speech that never ends

" What a fucking bunch of animals the Republicans have become."

Really elevates the debate, don't you think?

"Was that Trump speaking last night or Adolph Hitler and his band of Nazis? "

Please elaborate on the links. I want to hear this.

"we only have FOX Noise and the conservative media to thank for bringing us this monster who's a threat to the entire planet. Stock up on the bottled water NOW."

Most of the FoxyNews talking heads were AGAINST Hair Boy all during the primaries. Get out of your info bubble so you won't sound like you don't know what's going on. As for threatening the entire planet and stocking up on bottled water, are you getting this from voices in your head or what?

"Looks like a Mussolini rally."

And next week, we'll see the Politburo. Sounds silly, right? No sillier than your observation.

All of this is a clear indication that the Unicorn-humping crowd is SCARED SHITLESS! All along they thought that Hair Boy would self destruct by saying something objectionable or get caught in an embarrassing mistake. Every time they thought that happened and they yelled, "See? See?" he only got more popular.

I had a hard time being supportive of ANY of the Republicans pouring out of the clown car earlier this year, but I'm warming to the Orange One just because he makes lefties sputter and fume like above. Priceless.

Lol. I was really hoping someone realized that this historic building was related to Hitler, Obama and Putin. Glad you put the pieces together.

Re: “Republican National Convention Day 4: The speech that never ends

Just an FYI, that is not Rev. Bailey on the above picture. That is Pastor Mark Burns of a different church.

But yes, last night was a category 5 shitstorm. The levees have burst and America is the lower 9th ward.

Re: “Residents, preservationists facepalm over Engineer's Bookstore demolition plan

@ wesleywhatwhat
I realize that you cherry-picked the definition you quoted from among hundreds on the net. I pointed out that, according to the definition you quoted, this building is not historic.
80 years ago is not a past time or culture that is radically different from today. Technology is different, but not much else. For example, 80 years ago the Brits were appeasing Hitler (leading up to Neville Chamberlain being ejected as Prime Minister in 1940 and replaced by Churchill, who knew how to win a war); today we are appeasing Putin and are in a war with an enemy our President will not name.
There are hundreds of buildings in Atlanta City that are 80 years old and older and not all of them are historic. My uncle Don's primary school was built in the 17th century and I have visited a house built in 3700BC - those are historic.
I didn't watch the RNC and I won't watch the DNC, so can I and others depend on you for an unbiased review of each?

What a disgusting shit show. What a fucking bunch of animals the Republicans have become. Was that Trump speaking last night or Adolph Hitler and his band of Nazis? Republicans have sunk to the very depths with Trump and we only have FOX Noise and the conservative media to thank for bringing us this monster who's a threat to the entire planet. Stock up on the bottled water NOW.

Re: “Residents, preservationists facepalm over Engineer's Bookstore demolition plan

just what that area of town needs.....a place to buy gas, beer, cigarettes and lottery tickets. Another great place for people to pollute, get drunk, induce lung cancer, blow their money and then shoot someone. A gas station? thats the best use for this property? I know its a free country and you have property rights but do we really need this , there? and after its torn down, 10 years on we got an ugly ass gas station thats a magnet for trouble. Is that what we want? I cant believe Tech cant find a use for it.

So the neighbors are grumbling that "Atlanta" tears down old buildings. Well who are you if you're not Atlanta?

Re: “Residents, preservationists facepalm over Engineer's Bookstore demolition plan

Back in 1984 and 85 I remember being homeless and no lie sleeping behind it and urinating. And today I see nothing positively nostalgic about it. Unless there is another homeless bum willing to speak up I say tear it down.

Re: “Residents, preservationists facepalm over Engineer's Bookstore demolition plan

Err, it's not my definition of historic. It's the literal dictionary definition that you're struggling with.

"dating from or preserved from a past time or culture"

Tell me again how there are other buildings that are older so this one can't be "historic".

Again, think your comments through before hitting "post". Seems like the dumpster fire at the RNC has you shook.

Re: “Residents, preservationists facepalm over Engineer's Bookstore demolition plan

@ wesleywhatwhat
Responding to your definition of historic:
1. It is not famous or important in history.
2. It does not have great or lasting importance.
3. This definition applies to items like interest rates (e.g. a list of historic interest rates from 1860 to 1900).
4. It only dates from 80 years ago, not long in the past and not so distant from today's culture. Look around Atlanta and you will find lots of old buildings of this vintage or earlier (e.g. Underground and ots vicinity).
We are not talking about Williamsburg here.
