Re: “Atlanta Opera's Flying Dutchman delivers sturm, drang

Glad to see your review at the top of a Google News search in the apparent absence of an AJC review. Looking forward to seeing Dutchman on Sunday. Thanks to CL for picking up the AJC slack in local arts coverage.

Re: “Atlanta Opera's Flying Dutchman delivers sturm, drang

I thought it was a terrific performance! All the individual voices were strong and beautiful, the chorus was spectacularly good, the scenery and the lighting evoked Wagner's mythical, magical, wild seaman's world -- I can hardly say enough good things about this production.
(I confess I was a little dubious about the dreamy reunion of the Dutchman and Senta at the end -- was this in Wagner's script?)

Re: “Object of desire

I am glad to see an opera company in Atlanta with the gumption to finally produce cutting edge works that cater to more than those who attend just to be seen at the shows instead of listen. Thanks Capital City!
