i agree. moreso for this one because it's not very interesting or beautiful -- just confusing.

i usually look forward to "time & place," but this one is a bit dull.

I think there should be captions with the "Time & Place" photos. I always wonder what the heck is going on.

You know, seeing as how a hole for the mouth is already cut out, you should reuse that sheet for something else...

Re: “Nov. 29, 2006, 3:47 p.m.

Vinnie, it's called 'acting' and it's actually kind of a farce or parody. I do think he pokes fun at rednecks and others (who are not necessarily rednecks), but it's all in fun. Saying that SBC is racist is like saying that Ashton Kutcher is racist because he has punked so many white people, and probably some black ones, too. Thus he is racist towards whites and blacks. Anyone that seriously thinks SBC or Borat is a racist, is an idiot.

Re: “Nov. 29, 2006, 3:47 p.m.

Here's what everyone, everyone is missing. When Borat makes a joke at X's expense, the joke isn't on X -- it's on the viewer who thinks that there might be a grain of truth in it. He's not making fun of anyone in the film -- he's making fun of us, the audience. Well, maybe not all of us. Some of us get it. If he was pointing out some unspoken truth, that certain colored people think/act/behave in certain ways, then he would be an under-the-radar bigot. But that's not the point. He's not making fun of Kazahks, Jews, or southerners. He's making fun of those of us in the audience who think that maybe Borat is on to something. Look in the mirror, folks. Take a good long look.

Re: “Nov. 29, 2006, 3:47 p.m.

Sacha's skill is that he draws out the ignorance in others for all to see. He himself doesn't actually think this way. Cause if he realy did, he wouldn't play his other characters of Bruno or Ali G. Borat is Not Sacha.

Re: “Nov. 29, 2006, 3:47 p.m.

Well, because the movie feeds on racial ignorance, stereotypes, and xenophobia...duh! BTW, crick, just because someone is jewish does not mean that they must not be racist. That is a prejudice itself. Plenty of jewish people are racist, just ask my grandma (bigot). And yes, we are all aware of the difference between racism and preduce. Slim, racism is not just the belief of racially superiority. It's also the belittling of a group of people; sometimes racism uses violence, sometimes it uses laughter.

Sacha Cohen is obviously Jewish.

Re: “Nov. 29, 2006, 3:47 p.m.

Exactly how is Borat a lesson in the racial superiority of one race over another?? Which race is superior??

Re: “Nov. 29, 2006, 3:47 p.m.

Amen to that. Sacha can kiss my crack. I hope he enjoys all that money while more frat boys are converted to the ranks of xenophobes.

Re: “Nov. 3, 2006, 11:48 A.M.

I was raised in a Christian home. To please my family, my church friends and God himself I tried to overcome my homosexuality. I married at the age of 28. After 3 years of marriage I was no further away from my desire to be with a man than at any other point in my life. I went to EXODUS for a few months and discovered there were other men just like me. However, they were no less homosexual after months and years in the EXODUS program. They just didn't give into the 'temptation'. I don't view homosexuality as an addiction that can be changed by a 12-step program. I also don't view it as a sickness. The healthiest thing I ever did for myself and those I love was to be honest, come out and admit I am a homosexual. I have done that, got divorced from the woman I married and have been in a very happy relationship with another man for almost 8 years. I can't express enough how much joy, mental and emotional health I have in my life today as a result. I am happy to be queer, gay, a homosexual.
