I think both groups mentioned below are far from mediocre. If anything, black lips are overrated.

Re: “MUSIC: Top 101 Albums of the decade (2000-2009)

Cool that you picked the only Mastodon record that really matters. The others are good, but that's the one. People at Metacritic can heap group think critical praise on them all day long, but Leviathan is the one that will be remembered forever.

The list does have some problems, though (two black lips records? Yelawolf? I can accept the two Black Lips records but Yelawolf? C'mon already).

I read the comment about Two Sheds and I think it was wise to leave Dropsonic and Blake Rainey off of the list. Both are mediocre at best and have left no mark on the Atlanta music scene in any way whatsoever.

Also cool that the Constellations did not make it, because they are really bad yet people shit themselves over that band for some reason.

Kudos.

Re: “MUSIC: Top 101 Albums of the decade (2000-2009)

Only one Mastodon record (also is Leviathan was released in 2004 not 2007)? Every respected critic in the country (see www.metacritic.com/music/alpha/m) has heaped praise on the last two Mastodon releases. I can see Crack the Skye missing the list but how do you omit Blood Mountain? Leave it to Atlanta writers to not support a homegrown (and still actually local) band that most agree is the most significant Metal band anywhere in years. But then again I understand, because for Atlanta hipster critics the shelf-life for bands (not in the hip-hop genre) that gain well-deserved national attention is twenty minutes.

Nice work. Now go throw on some skinny jeans and smoke a cigarette.

The loaf does it again. Same ol' same ol' list. I agree with nashville pussy and young antiques missing being a crime. And no dropsonic?

Re: “MUSIC: Top 101 Albums of the decade (2000-2009)

What? you didn't include every record that came out in this city the past decade including all of my friends' crappy bands? No Constellations, the greatest band this city has produced?

Re: “MUSIC: Top 101 Albums of the decade (2000-2009)

No Nashville Pussy? They may have moved here instead of forming here but they are the best band in this town. They should have two or three records on this list. Blaine Cartwright is the 21st Century Roger Miller.

Re: “MUSIC: Top 101 Albums of the decade (2000-2009)

Wow. Way to go and not represent even a single Two Sheds Records artist (Young Antiques, Sharks and Minnows, Silent Kids, Hot Young Priest, Jupiter Watts, etc).
