Re: “Pot Fest: Burned again

So it they wont let you book the park for the event, why not everybody show up when it is supposed to take place. Is this not a public park anyone can visit and grill out, and don't you also have freedom of speech. So don't reserve it I am not sure how this park is setup or how they reserve their space. But there is always a way if you make it.

Re: “Police Rage at WSB-TV'S Cop-Killer Story

Yep, Cannabis, that centuries old evil. One of the handful of not only non-toxic, but beneficial, and simple substances on the planet. A plant!

We fall over each other to buy the poisonous CNS depressant, indistinguishable from barbiturates, alcohol on Sunday and act as if slavery were repealed. Yet possession or growth of the non-toxic plant is a felony.

We all either have smoked it, or know someone who does and we know the truth, it's more or less benign compared to what we hawk on TV and sporting events. yet rather than moving on to a more sane position we cling tightly to old habits.

And we wonder why there is such little respect for the Law.

Re: “'This court disagrees'

Victims live with what happened to them all of their lives. Their spouses deal with it. Some people are haunted by what the sex offender every day, forever. They never forget. The victims pay for the rest of their lives, why shouldn't you?

Re: “'This court disagrees'

can some one tell me how we can reverse the decision to legally vilify people for their entire lives?

Re: “'This court disagrees'

I am a sex offender! I was 19. I'm 40 now and it's bad enough that I went to prison, did my parole sentence, I still have to deal with living restrictions and job restrictions, but I also have to "register" with Probation and parole to let them know where I live, where I shop, where I worship! Honestly people. I have murdered no one! I paid for my crime! When will the government stop persecuting me?

Re: “The 2009 mayoral race may get jolt of celebrity

Clark Howard running for Mayor of Atlanta should be a no brainer for every voter. We must vote in a fiscally conservative mayor to, at least, get us back on track after the past two (one felonious) nightmare administrations.
Race should not be an issue at all and I am a Southern White Male.
Let's just put this great city's problems behind us and put Clark Howard in office to resolve the fiscal missteps of past.

Re: “'The Peach' could pave way for streetcar

The only problem is that there is no way this bus line can possibly attract a similar amount of ridership as a streetcar system would. Across the country, streetcar systems regularly attract more riders than buses running along the same route.
Cincinnati is currently planning a 6-mile streetcar line with a daily projected ridership of 1,150 riders per mile which is based on the average ridership of cities that operate modern streetcar systems. If the Atlanta system were to have a similar ridership per mile the 12-mile route would be expected to have ridership of 13,800 riders per day.
According to Creative Loafing, the Peach runs every 30 minutes and takes an hour from beginning to end. To achieve a 30 minute headway on a two hour round trip route would require four buses running the route at all times. Each bus has a capacity of around 45 people, resulting in a combined total capacity of 180 people for all four buses. (About the capacity of a single streetcar). Assuming each bus starts totally full, runs for 18 hours a day, and on each one way trip there are 45 new boardings and 45 passengers who get off the bus then highest possible ridership you could obtain from this route would be 3,240—far less than a streetcar line would be expected to attract. (45 passengers per bus per hour for 18 hours).
No wonder a streetcar opponent supports this plan—it is set up to fail.

Re: “The 2009 mayoral race may get jolt of celebrity

My people(white, black, yellow, red) PLEASE STOP giving power to racism! Most of us agree that racism is ignorance so isn't it about time to take the very educated high road. Take the time to educate yourself and your community about the candidates and VOTE for whom you feel has OUR city's best interest at the top of their to do list! Like it or not we all have to live together, work together, and hopefully prosper together. Allowing color to be a barrier to Atlanta being THE greatest city ever would be the worst racist injustice for all.

Re: “Private-Sector Corruption Busters

Can your group put me in touch with someone who is not afraid of the Black Mafia in Atlanta? Both housing authories are run by black folks that are getting away with corruption. But it seems like everyone is afraid because they are black, and will be accused of racism, hogwash. I found a grant that was given to the dekalb county community development by HUD. The grant states a lot of things that are not true. The activites they state are not true. The seniors at spring chase II have no activities, the rents are in questioned! The dekalb housing says they had one rent increase in 2003. They opened up in 2002, the director of dekalb county community states that there have been no increases, so how could the rents have gomne from 2002 of $450 to $500.-$625 with no increases. I am being harassed because I dare to ask questions. I am disabled in a wheelchair have been to all the black elected officials no response, the CEO was given my name and phone numbers, e-mail address he has not responded to the seniors needs or help. I am at the Ga Equal opportunity but have no representation, can you send me to someone who is not connected to these crooked black officials the seniors need help!!

Re: “Private-Sector Corruption Busters

Can I ask one question about Grady Hosp? Why did grady hosp not operate on me when I bled profusely in 04 from polps on my colon? Instead all they did was stop the bleeding keep me in the hosp for one week without analizing the situation on a cause of action. Again in 05 I bled again from the rectum, emergency gaved me a pill to stop the bleeding sent me home. I moved to charlotte, NC my first week there I was taken to Carolina Medical where they told me I could not be sent home or I would die. They took part of my colon, and my interstines, what was left they hooked onto my rectum, took one of my ovaries. Grady is to me a butcher hosp, inept care, close the damn place down in my opion.
