I am a connoisseur of this real soul music like the comment above I'm glad to check out the artist who i'm not familiar with. the list is tight!
You've got a few of my faves listed here, plus a bunch I've never heard of. Thanks for introducing me to some new GREAT music. I'm listening now!
Neko Case has so much to applaud. Hardest-working girl who we're glad to have on the East Coast.

It will be missed, years of life, death, realness. . .its was an education in real life.
Here's what you do. Get Pandora, pay for the subscription (around $3 per month), type in an artist Jamal used to play (Incognito, Brand New Heavies, Jamiroquai, etc), and enjoy.

Innovative & fresh sound !!!
Too many memories. I remember we were smoking meth on the back patio and a bartender who shall remain nameless, came out saw us, shrugged and went back inside.
Awesome memories for sure... Lenny's played such a major role in my music life. My first real show was at Lenny's ias part of the rap duo Adult Film Stars. A week later we were introduced to A-Bomb who booked almost every show we did there (and we did a bunch). There I met a multitude of talented folks I now work with today and consider friends including A-Bomb, The Wheeler Boys, Ricky Raw, The Fresh, Southern Folk etc.
Much love and respect to the good people of Lenny's!!! We need more venues that cultivate the up-and-coming artists.
