It's a simple answer: bob doesnt make ATL trap music in a post 2000 music world. When Burno Mars and Paramore are doing the heavy lifting of singing your hooks - the "hood" opinion of you will be not good.
If he kept making songs like Haters Everywhere I Go - he would be just as loved as TI, Jeezy, and the like.
Used to know his brother Jamal back in the day so it makes me an expert on this topic ;)
i seen bob a couple times. last christmas show i was sad because i was standing right in front of him trying to shake his hand and he did not want to...its not like i asked for a pic or anything. just wanted to show respect. At least the show was really good.
I don't think Makonnen "flaked"..he couldn't get into the venue because of security/crowd/etc. Kind of unfair to say he flaked, like he didn't give a F.
Hi, I'm B.O.B. Would you knock me out, please? Just hit me in the face.
"If people saw you come up and knew you before you were cool, they're not always going to acknowledge that you're the man to people who didn't see it."
but What About B.O.B. ?
Nobody ever blows up at home, especially in the south. Atlanta and the surrounding areas are known for making people leave in order to be appreciated in all but a few cases. But it's like everything else, I guess. If people saw you come up and knew you before you were cool, they're not always going to acknowledge that you're the man to people who didn't see it. They'd rather go on and on about how they remember when you had to borrow money from them to eat, or how you used to have to stand on line at Club Kaya, etc., etc. Southern pride is sometimes more of a singular thing, because success in the south is usually much more humbled so that it'll appear to be as regular and slow-burning as everyone else. It's just part of the culture maybe. Not that this doesn't mean it sucks, but it is what it is, sorta like racism and all the other things that come with being from a place people consider "country."
I have never heard of this guy but maybe I want to :)
Playing his annual Christmas Eve show at Smith's Olde Bar; because regardless if Atlanta loves him, he loves Atlanta.
Entertainment, real estate, and civil litigation attorney? Why would you even bother with the drama of making it big as a rapper. If I was him, I'd use my law degree and start a label and cash in while pushing music you enjoy.
Great story, the people complaining don't understand the DKs or the fact we lost the real group too soon to money bickering. By the way, the Ted Kennedy's played Halloween this year (2014) so a follow story is needed. The show was amazing.
Thanks for writing this
"The yapping dogs of this world rushing to the gate to bark at the stranger in strange dress walking by are too stupid to see or hear the real danger breaking in at the rear of their property," -- and yet again, Pearce intentionally obfuscates his message.

Urmson's video is about as disturbing as the urchins trying to sell Trayvon Martin as a meek teenage Boy Scout.
