Re: “First Slice 7/26/16: AHA approves $150 million mixed-use development for former Herndon Homes site

Hank Johnson and Jihad Cynthia continue Jimmy Carter's anti-semitic legacy.

Re: “Pricey Atlanta state House race attracts more than $400k

So Brown showing up at events forgives her horrendous, factually wrong and gutter-level smear-tactic campaign literature?

Brown apparently didn't know that the "Georgia Power" donation that she accused Dreyer of lying about came from his friend, neighbor and colleague on the Grant Park Conservancy Board? Dreyer is the outgoing GPC leader, the donation came from the incoming GPC leader. Brown is clueless about this? Why, if she's so "engaged" in our neighborhoods?

BTW, knocks on our door over the past months: Dreyer = 3, Brown = 0

I enjoy making fun of the gentrifying hipsters in O4W as much as anyone.

"The account features a colorful abundance of street art, businesses, shops, and overwhelmingly white residents indulging in the culture of the historic neighborhood."

Does anyone remember O4W culture from the 1990's?

Ah, the Pizza Hut and Strawberry Kiwi MD 20/20 from Chevron on the way to foam night at the Masquerade!

Can we bring back the use of Hotlanta in an ironic, the 90s are cool kind of way?

Re: “First Slice 7/25/16: How can older civil rights groups help young activists?

CL is a junk media, it used to pride itself on being a balanced news outlet when Jill Hannity was editor, CL was factual correct and well balanced... now it's just junk and half the shit written is junk... full of holes in their stories and just plain lazy journalism.... and Debbie is pretty shitty at her job as editor..

I've never seen Dreyer. Brown comes to our neighborhood events all the time.

Re: “The heat is on in Serenbe

I live right next door to the Serenbe Farm House and no one asked me, my husband, In- laws whom live right across the street from the Farm House or my daughter and her husband whom also live right across the street if we minded about a helicopter landing and taking off. Yes we mind! The noise scares my 2 year old granddaughter, my husband has to get up at 4:45 am and the noise keeps him awake. Serenbe Playhouse should be in a building not outdoors in the middle of a neighborhood where people have to get up to go to work. School starts on the 8th. there are a minimum of 7 school aged children in a quater mile radius of the chopper landing and taking off. It's loud! Are your actor's are so bad that you have to do over the top props?

@ atlantan109
Perhaps so. Can you cite any instance where an Atlanta City neighborhood association has forced Reed to do anything? The Blank neighborhood association doesn't count.

Re: “First Slice 7/25/16: How can older civil rights groups help young activists?

What no ridicule from the DNC? You didn't wait long last week with the RNC?

Wasserman resigns in disgrace hillary hires her immediately

DNC refers to latino outreach as the "taco bowl"?

The hundreds of damaging emails released by WikiLeaks!

The crowds boo's as Bernie mentions Hillary's name?

good stuff but not a word......

Do not be so sure Broch. Atlanta neighborhood associations are far better organized and effective since you last lived in the city. Also I think that your alma mater might have something to say about this issue as well.

@ atlantan109
You've contrived a well intended, feel good gesture that is unfortunately defeated before it begins. Reed doesn't respond to efforts like this unless there's something in it for him, and a petition isn't it. Come up with something more effective.
Perhaps you could set up a crowd funding effort to buy the building from the owner.
By the way, the correct spelling is alma mater.

Re: “Residents, preservationists facepalm over Engineer's Bookstore demolition plan

Here is a petition that people can sign to help this building from being replaced by a gas station:

https://www.change.org/p/mayor-reed-repurp…

Do not listen to Broch. He lives far away and usually cheers everything bad that happens to the city, including his own Alma Matter. Sign this thing, and you will have accomplished something positive today.

Re: “First Slice 7/25/16: How can older civil rights groups help young activists?

That mailer, (and the not so subtle comparison to a 'house negro'), is brutal.
Surprised we are not seeing many more people not coming out against it...maybe I shouldn't be.
Kudos to Torpy for his reporting, and being a political gadfly in general, and to Mr Wheatley for reminding us this is actually taking place.

The soccer field is a great idea. There is a technology that can be incorporated into the fields that utilizes the kinetic energy of the players to light the fields at night, would be pretty cool if they included that in the design.

Fwiw, Pinewood is in Fayetteville, not Peachtree City.

Broch - Gotta agree with you there sir. The Israelis are the best in counter terrorism training; my only question is, so much concentration on counter terrorism, when they could invest the money more in increasing the force, paying them more, etc...?

Re: “Residents, preservationists facepalm over Engineer's Bookstore demolition plan

The main point is not whether the building is significantly historic or not, but rather that demolishing it in favor of a gas station would be a crime.
