I don't get it, you have this huge Sweetwater Fest festival taking over Centennial Park this weekend and all CL can talk about is this fucking political bullshit that no one gives a fuck about. EPIC fail on your part. Embarrassing.
COSBY, has RAPED 100's of Women. Several police agencies are building a case. Criminal Charges are immenent.
"The oil boom in North Dakota has resulted in high wages even for those that work jobs that are typically low-paying everywhere else like fast food. Then again, the high wages are due to the higher cost of living in these areas due to the rapid growth in the region that drove costs higher (There are people that rent out RVs up there for $1500-2000 a month because there is a housing shortage...)." __________________________________________________________________
You are a little late with that example (see link below). What was happening with the oil boom in North Dakota was an anomaly. It would be reductionist in the extreme to believe that the same cause and effect relationship would occur in context of a completely different set of market conditions.
I can't wait until I move to the Seattle area. God, I hate the South. All this whining and crying and stupidity.
"The appearance of evil is sometimes as bad as evil itself".
The whole thing just does not pass the smell test.
Is there any way we can get Kasim Reed and John Eaves to face off in a boxing ring?
..for charity. Or whatever.
So when the council gave themselves a 50% pay raise they claimed that the part time job, was really a full time one. Now when they have a full time salary, they claim it's part time and can handle both.....which one is it?
Man, I'd hit dat. She's probably a freak in the sheets.
Great article. The only thing missing is the street address of the market. Where is it Thomas?
First of all, my condolences to all of the families affected by this. Second of all, why in the world do people feel the need to blame the police for this? The two surviving men likely owe their life to a police officer who was doing her job. It never ceases to amaze me the way that people are so quick to blame law enforcement instead of recognizing the fact that these people willingly risk life and limb to protect and serve.
This stinks more than Reed's usual shenanigans.
Bring in a crony who has not shown the ability to run a lemonade stand, rush through a vote, then keep the existing executive director on as a consultant.
Why didn't Reed just write Bottoms a check for $135,000 and save everyone a lot of trouble.
"Smack dealers cannot be trusted"
Whaaaa? That's judgmental....I figured you would blame Reagan. Your a regular Wavy Gravy.
"all giddy every time another unarmed black male"
No, it's the media who comes up with the Super Bowl coverage, cranking up the merchandise machine.....it's like the guy in Tulsa, had he not been illegally selling guns, and running, he'd be alive today.
"by curving test scores " - they organized parties where they erased wrong answers and bubbled in right answers. That's not curving a test, Mark.
I have long agreed with you that the testing fetish harms what goes on in classrooms particularly of lower SES kids, as their schools desperately try to drill and kill sterile test answers into them. That in no way excuses the Hall regime or the pawns who played along with a massive cheating scam. Amazing that you prefer these cynical crooks to the real heroes, teachers who work to overcome the straitjacket imposed by our pols (with our complaisance) and give their kids an education. Because serious teachers don't participate in scams.
@ Wake UP. I had not heard about Kasim Reed's Brazil trip. Remember when Bill Campbell flew his mistress to Paris? Wonder if that's what Kasim means by "international relations."
AHHHHH HAHAHAHA y'all I know you hate the mayor but y'all got to put your heads down on your desks for five minutes because one of y'all just praised Cobb county's fairness and transparency in ramming through the new Braves stadium legislation.
@Thomas, don't worry, Kasim f'd up the name too:
Got busted. Had to pay. So now found "friend" a big job. LOL. People Wake up.
ATLANTA -- Mayor Kasim Reed will reimburse the city treasury for most of the cost of a first-class plane ticket purchased for his travel to Brazil last month.
Reed has led city delegations to China, France, the Netherlands and more. In April, the destination was Brazil. Reed led a thirty-seven member business delegation that included eight city employees plus three city council members. Their goal was to drum up business for the city, and Reed said afterward he expects to ramp up the city's international relations. "It's going to be how I spend the next four years," Reed said after returning from the Brazil trip.
By himself, city records show that Reed spent $10,549.37 on the Brazil trip. The biggest expense was a first-class round trip ticket to Sao Paulo, at a cost of $5827.63. We found coach flights on Delta's web site to Sao Paulo for as little as $1272.
Reed's office issued a statement to 11Alive news saying, in part, "Mayor Reed understands the importance of being a good steward of taxpayer money when traveling on official business. He will reimburse the cost of the flight, above and beyond the cost of a coach fare, which is what he had planned to do..."
Reed's spokesman Carlos Campos said Reed would use leftover campaign funds to make the reimbursement.
City rules require expense reports within 30 days of travel, but Mayor Reed is the only city official who has released a summary of his expenses so far for the trip that ended April 12. City officials said city council members CT Martin and Keisha Lance Bottoms submitted reports to the Finance Department, which hadn't released the reports as of Tuesday. City Council President Cesar Mitchell is planning to pay for his Brazil trip out-of-pocket, according to city officials.
Reed is in Washington today. Reed's office says he has no doubt the Brazil trip will yield substantial economic benefits for Atlanta. "While there, we feel confident that we made some positive inroads in a number of sectors, and created opportunities around the city's booming film industry, Hartsfield-Jackson airport and our university centers," the statement said. "These travel costs will exponentially be returned to the City in the form of new economic development opportunities, job creation, tourism and other related benefits."
I'd still slide one in her deep though.
"You brought in a mayor with the last annexation," District 11 Councilwoman Keisha Lance Bottoms said of Mayor Kasim Reed, referring to the 2006 annexation of what is now known as southwest Atlanta.
"We both lived in the same area, in two different neighborhoods," Bottoms said. "Annexation meant there was an opportunity for people who had lived there to run for city office and get involved."
"Annexation is meant to get more balck vioters to support bottoms in 2017". FACT.
Watch her. She is bad news.
