These whack-jobs have as their stated founding and central philosophy the notion that they object to paying taxes.
And then they're shocked--SHOCKED, I tell you--when they're investigated by the IRS??!?
Bishes, please.
This guy does the impossible. Makes Saxby look qualified.
Americans for Prosperity Georgia absolutely should be investigated by the IRS for its its tax-exempt status. Investigated thoroughly. Americans for Prosperity is the political action front for the infamous billionaire Koch brothers who in great part started the Tea Party movement. See this article:

What a joke! First of all, Americans for Prosperity is the creation of and fully funded by the infamous billionaire Koch brothers who have been using their billions to promote radical right-wing causes for decades. There is now ample evidence that all most of these so called "grass roots' Tea Party movements which give the appearance of being spontaneous citizen uprisings challenging our federal government as being unpatriotic and failing to conform with the ideals and goals of the founding fathers are in fact "astro-turf" organizations originated and largely funded by a group of extremely radical right-wing free market (mostly Republican) zealots, like the Koch brothers. A recent study undertaken by the Tobacco Control Research and Education Foundation provides ample evidence that the Koch brothers created and funded (massively funded) the Tea Party movement in America. Click here for an article about the study and access information for the study itself:

So , my dear Atlantans, keep an eye peeled for anything and everything the Americans for Prosperity folks are endeavoring to accomplish. They are directly funded and controlled by the billionaire Koch brothers. And should they and other similar groups like Karl Rove's American Crossroads be considered tax ex? No. They should be paying taxes for the politically motivated contributions they receive. IRS is absolutely right to be vetting them, and not just them, but any organization, no matter what political party, (like let's say the Catholic Church which preaches and lobbies to stop contraception and abortion programs funded by the government), which claim to be charitable organizations but in reality use their contributions to play hardball politics to push through their ideologies and financial interests.

this guy could a future star in GOP circles.
Mark, I think the impediments to a progressive agenda are pretty broad. We have a government that is slow to change by design, with all its checks and balances. So impediments to that type of governance is already there to begin with. In addition to that, people are by nature emotionally resistant to change (fear of the unfamiliar, complacency, etc) so that creates another hurdle. In fact, that hurdle is so big that patently radical initiatives like undermining the rights of workers or gutting financial regulation is possible so long as they are labeled as conservative ideals.
Overcoming this emotional irrationality will take a more enlightened populace (as long as everyone's stupid, it's easier to scream and shout about UN-sponsored tyranny than it is to make a reasoned argument for solving a real problem). But with educational institutions being regarded as overfunded liberal brainwashing facilities, and a news industry seeing more profit in entertaining than informing, I'm not sure how that's going to happen. To right this shit, it's probably going to take a modern day Renaissance -- which is going to take a modern day Bubonic Plague. I hope that's encouraging.
Yes, another political dynasty. That's what this country needs. (rolls eyes)
"Fix some big problems" = "fill pockets/fleece the American taxpayer"
Have you been in a Dollar general Store? Nothing but "made in China" crap. Guess I know where this is headed.
@Mark
Are you sure the health care reforms was what started the rise of the Tea Party?
Because from what I have observed, it seems like this Tea Party nonsense started with former CNBC reporter Rick Santelli mouthing off about govt promoting riskiy home mortgages at the Chicago Board of Trade. And that incident was just ONE MONTH after President Obama first took office.
The Tea Party didn't even give Obama any time to screw up. They targeted him from the word "Go".
And the media itself picks what is news-worthy and what is not. After all the Occupy movements went on for weeks before the mainstream even decided that it was newsworthy and even then a lot of the media pundits tend to either downplay the significance of the protests or somehow insult the protestors. Whereas the Tea party recieve significant attention and much favorable mentions from the start.
The mainstream media is a business at the end of the day, owned by corporations. It is not in their best interests to cover movements that at the core have an anti-megacorporation populist message.
After the 1996 Telecommunication Act was passed, you might as well say that the era of the media being independent Guardian of the Fourth Estate is gone.
Chuckie, Wes, JF, Vox, Eric, etc - what is your opinion about my 11:02 am comment?
lol oh my god
I am really excited to see the Beltline project move forward. I do see one major obstacle for the SE side of the project. That is the 700 section 8 apartments on Boulevard between Ponce and Freedom Pkwy. They are owned by Wingate Properties out of Boston. There are probably several thousand welfare queens, convicts and their illegitimate offspring living there. They are the source of virtually all violent and property crime in the neigborhoods surrounding Boulevard.
Until that stretch is redeveloped into middle income housing the area will be dangerous especially after dark.
fine. here, let me do the work for ya.
knowing what we do about u, i'm not surprised you're too lazy to look up something for yourself. just get the man to do it for u, right?

convalescent means "recovering from sickness or debility : partially restored to health or strength"
that doesn't exactly apply to broch, now does it? so yes, use a dictionary to learn words.
try looking up "initiative" for starters, ya lazy piece of shit.
It's evident BB's primary sources for Benghazi info are Breitbart, Fox and the Drudge Report. Though I'm still lost how 'Beltline' was translated into 'Benghazi.'

I know right. "Convalescent old men" doesn't even make sense. I need to use a dictionary so I can learn words.
"I told you where to go to answer your question. That is my answer. I'm not going to spoon-feed you. Do your own research from primary sources and form your opinion."
if you can't explain it, you don't understand it. i think we're done here

Re: “Were the Georgia Tea Party Patriots targeted by the IRS?”
I used to work for a non-profit many years ago and that was standard information asked of us when we sought 501c3 status. It looks like every crackpot tea party in the country will claim harassment in order to fund raise.
