Might WABE be feeling some pressure to improve? Isn't it about time?
"We were talking about a serial killer in Atlanta correct? Or would you like me to keep a running tab of all murders by race nationwide?"
Holy moly! You were the one who extrapolated a lone Atlanta serial killer into some cockamamie "biosocial" theory regarding the entire black race.
"I am asking for a Red Ryder for Christmas do you think they will let me shoot it there ?"
Just don't carry it in a Wal-Mart or a local park.
All I want for Christmas is for the CL commentariat to not justify their racism/bell curve believing motherfucking small penis-having, threatened, bullshit by using statistics with no acknowledgement of what contributes to them.
Shit. Maybe next year.
We were talking about a serial killer in Atlanta correct? Or would you like me to keep a running tab of all murders by race nationwide?
How about to step up and tell us the racial make-up of those arrested for murder in Atlanta the last couple of years? Nah, you'd rather curse (as internet tough guys are prone to do) to show-off your faux street cred.
I stopped merely criticizing others without also hoping look at solutions sometime after high-school, looks like some people never matured into that mindset
"...start admitting there is a problem"
And how about this one:
BB and Vox need to take responsibility for this. This guy is part of the fucking asshole community. When will fucking assholes like Vox and BB start admitting there is a problem with other fucking assholes? When I ask???
Getting an HD radio..............
"I can't recall the last time you included anything other than your own opinion, with little to back it up."
I used to do it more, but ever since the rightists on here decided sources as the NIH, NSF, NAS, CDC, NASA etc are no longer reputable in their eyes I veered more toward a priori rather than empirical evidence.
"Tell the people suffering from Ebola or ISIS that they no longer matter, just because something is no longer part of the 24hr news cycle it doesn't mean it is no longer is important"
You seem to be getting flabbergasted trying to "win" our little debate. Do you not see how your comment makes zero sense as a response to this?
"Two examples were the panics over ebola and isis. Notice those two memes magically slipped from the headlines as soon as repetition reduced their attention-grabbing shock factor?"
I'm so in love with her.
Dothan, Alabama's NPR programming is more progressive than Atlanta's, and that was ten years ago.
@ Many corporations are like cancerous tumors - You do know the author was being sarcastic, right?
If I recall correctly the contract the city signed allowed for up to $500 million in hotel/motel tax money for the stadium.
It's not the whole cost but it's tax money that could have been better spent, perhaps the money could have been put towards the beltline so ABI could settle it's TAD debts.
I guess it's too late now.
"Most Americans are led around by the nose by headlines. "
Quite an interesting statement coming from a person who only looks at one side of any story, and will never acknowledge that there may be facts he's missing from the narrative. (and who mind you posts more than anyone else on the 'news' here)
"Heck, I waded through that article on monoamine oxidase you posted to "prove" you latest craze over biosocial theory, but even it refuted your supposition."
You really don't get it, I said it was an interesting theory worth considering. I unlike you will often include sources that are reasonably neutral and at least thought provoking. I can't recall the last time you included anything other than your own opinion, with little to back it up.
When did you become so sanctimonious?
(P.S. Tell the people suffering from Ebola or ISIS that they no longer matter, just because something is no longer part of the 24hr news cycle it doesn't mean it is no longer is important).
If Invest Atlanta board wanted to pay APS, they could start with the $8mm they are doling out to Post Centennial apartments. And there's plenty more where that comes from.
@ Mark in Atlanta
"Are you kidding?"
I make an assertion and you make an ad hominem attack on me rather than rebut the assertion.
Now you say you cannot rebut the assertion because I haven't proved it. LMAO
As they say in Texas, you are all hat and no cattle.
Why can't the Beltine and APS compromise by selling advertizing space on Kasim Reed's Sphincter?
Yes I realize Kasim Reed's Sphincter is WHOLLY and completely owned by Arthur Blank, but it is, in large part, being paid for by taxpayer funds, is it not?
Perhaps some staffers at City Hall could pass this post around and see if they can advocate for this compromise...
So Kasim Reed, who did his D@MN best to protect Beverly Hall and cover up cheating, NOW wants to cheat APS out of Beltline funding?
As gross AND incompetent as APS is (look at how they just called a meeting with only 1 day notice-which lasted 2 minutes with ZERO discussion to increase class size by five students) they do have the right to the money.
Is Kasim Reed acting, yet again, in an unethical manner, when it comes to APS? Of course.
Is it more than likely, if APS gets its hands on the money, they will act in an equally unethical manner? Of course...
"The fall in crime in America is the single most under-reported story of the last 30 years. Ask Joe Television-Watcher if crime has been rising or falling and tell me I'm wrong."
Most Americans are led around by the nose by headlines. They get into an existential panic by what ever collective "grand narrative" the media latches onto as the flavor of the month. Logic takes a nosedive. Two examples were the panics over ebola and isis. Notice those two memes magically slipped from the headlines as soon as repetition reduced their attention-grabbing shock factor? On to the next flashing road sign: Ferguson! No, thats fading too. So its, its: Gas prices!
