"The simple explanation is that cameras work. They are force multipliers that allow the police to be everywhere watching the crooks. They prevent crime and collect evidence when crimes do occur."
Ditto...cosign...you said it, Bub...
Wait...what? Who said that? That guy? Aw, Man...I still agree.
My wife thinks this is a sure sign Skynet is imminent. I didn't marry her for her analytic skills.
Please share the link or quote from a Tea Party group which details opposition to bonds for sidewalks.
Straight people be havin' kids and goin' to church. You seen this, you heard about this? (adjusts tie)
You've got a few of my faves listed here, plus a bunch I've never heard of. Thanks for introducing me to some new GREAT music. I'm listening now!
Too many ill informed opinions in this string to address individually.
A. Camera networks serve many purposes:
1. Situational awareness for real time instantaneous response (e.g. shooting incident, perp runs down street in red jacket - info passed down to responding unit.)
2. Investigative support. identifying and providing evidence to get the bad guys (think Boston bombers)
3. Deterrant. I wont steal that car because it will be on camera. Has been in place in retail stores for a while - its no different. It works.
In the hands of trained people and integrated into processes and systems - they work. various examples around the world.
B. Funding for this sort of initiative is initiative specific and usually possible because of the disruptive, step-change nature of the program. It would not be obtained to add another x% of officers.
C. The Police Officers generally are good, hard working, honest and trained. They are generally recruited, from, and to reflect, the city population. Stop casting baseless assertions about their character and ask yourself how perfect you are 24 hrs a day. The job is hard.
D. Through the 2000 officer recruiting drive, the hiring guidelines and benchmarks have remained the same as always. Thi has been investigated through open records requests already.
He is a politician. He isn't a spineless politician but he is a politician. He has a platform that he stands on. And fighting the gun lobby is not one of the initiatives of that platform.
Doria, that is terrible and I'm sure it's terrifying. Unfortunately, this system is set up to be reactionary only after it is too late. You can report it, be vocal about it and demand to be protected, but nothing will be done until you or someone else is physically harmed. The sad part is a simple investigation early on could prevent that from happening. Keep standing up for yourself.
i'll pass on taking the bait this time but will just say that if the situation is as you describe it and someone is actually stalking you, i hope that they stop, either due to police involvement or on their own.
and if the situation is as the police report describes it, then maybe its best to let it go now.
either way, good luck to you. have a blessed day.
Doria girl, Do not even respond to anyone who is judging you by this lame "account" of the happenings! They seem to be throwing a little too much judgement around. Seriously, it's not worth it! We who know you, know that you are one of the most sincere, honest, and down to earth people you could ever come across! Please.....do not feed the....yeah, you get it girl! Stay safe down there!
The simple explanation is that cameras work. They are force multipliers that allow the police to be everywhere watching the crooks. They prevent crime and collect evidence when crimes do occur.
If all the things you are saying were true, Wesley, I would have posted publicly about this two weeks ago when it actually happened and every day since then.
Instead, I only told the authorities and the people closest to me for safety reasons.
I not only did the responsible thing, I did it as privately as humanly possible.
If I wanted the attention you say I'm seeking, why didn't I just post about it on every possible public forum I'm attached to back then? That would have been nearly 10 outlets I could have "exploited", by the way.
Why not mention it at my show on Saturday in front of an audience? Better yet, why not just cancel the show, close my store and sit in the safety of my home behind my computer and talk about how I feared for my life on all of those social networks?
Why not "milk it" while it was fresh?
Where has the "attention-seeking-persecution-complex-diva" in me been for nearly two weeks...or the last five months for that matter?
Why would I (or anyone) wait until I had to defend myself against it as opposed to launching an offensive attack?
So many questions...
Please, enlighten me.
i'm just glad that you could use FB and CL to get more attention from this "situation".
let's not forget that you CHOSE to be connected with this article by identifying yourself as the person the initial post was about, and then posted a link to your FB page, where you posted a link to this article, so let's not pretend this is about anything other than attention.
as for the "stalking" charges , i think i'll believe the police report that is so ridiculous that it made the blotter, rather than some long, equally ridiculous story from an attention seeking diva, thanks.
but seriously, good luck getting help with your issues. maybe you can write a song about how CL and the blotter are out to get you?
My reference to "Tea Party Republicans" is a description of many of the critics of this proposal, most of whom do not live in the city. Blessedly, they have little influence at City Hall, so I hope we will proceed with a substantial bond infrastructure program, which is how much of this country was built. Eisenhower Republicans understood this.
So, can you learn to write a proper sentence? Duuuuh!
"So can a few actual firearm owners be able to go and claim there stolen firearms. All these no questions asked gunback backs is nothing but an open invention for criminals to go and steal firearms for the free cash etc."
Who elects these douchebags?!
To discount a victim and their experience is unsettling. It seems this page is the one looking for PR.
"The woman said she's never met this fan, but the same fan sent her a package in the mail once before and she returned it. The woman says she's asked the fan not to contact her. The woman contacted police because she wanted the incident documented. According to the police report, the anonymous fan letter did not contain any threatening language. In fact, she chose not to tell police a single word of text from the letter and did not provide any other identifying information, such as a description of the handwriting. Cops dutifully filed a report — about a blank letter from an unknown fan."
judging from the police report, and your response to it, along with your posts here, you may want to seek professional help for your persecution issues. you may need medication if you think people are out to get you.
good luck to you, it can't be easy being you.
One of the hardest working people in the city. Once, I was having trouble getting my curbside trash picked up. I called Dexter directly, and a crew picked it up within an hour. We'll all miss him.
Too bad they didn't shoot the asshole when they found him in the refrigerator. Would have saved a lot of taxpayer dollars.
