Re: “Dr. KAHN Band (Cover Band)

Awesome Show!! Great night out on the town. If you like ANY 90's music, especially nostalgic Blink-182, Third Eye Blind, Smashing Pumpkins, etc. and even Pearl Jam, Tool, Foo Fighters, and Presidents of the USA songs. If you want a throwback to what you were doing back when these songs came out, go see these guys. You can't help but dance your ass off with the other patrons rocking out to their favorite 90s tunes, especially when "your jam" comes on ;) It's really cool to see these songs played live just like the real thing, but you only pay 10 bucks instead of 50 and these musicians are not far behind the technical skill and energy of the original artists. They just make fun of themselves and each other in between songs instead of acting like they are gods. Rock and Roll!

Re: “Northern Soul

Great film about the working class movement in northern England in the 70s. The soul music, of course, is the treat here. Rare, non-charting Motown and other labels offering soul, were the tops and the dancing was purely exhilarating (you know how dance and music merge to make your heart burst with happiness). This little gem of a movie lit a damn firework under me. I'm obsessed now. Great directing (Elaine Constantine), great acting (Elliott Langridge, Josh Whitehouse, Antonia Thomas), with endearing bit parts played by Lisa Stansfield and Steve Coogan.

Re: “Mother

My friend was turned away at the door by security for wearing a white v neck t shirt. I ended up going in with my other friends and someone else inside is wearing a white v neck t shirt as well. I asked the four security guards outside why some pearingople we a v neck tee were allowed in and others weren't. One of the security guards then asked me to show them the person inside who was wearing the same thing as my friend. I did so and they responded that that the individual insidd was there before they arrived for duty. I told them that regardless of whether they were working earlier that didn't matter and businesses must be consistent with their dress code policy. I was then told "don't worry about what other people are wearing". I pushed the matter further and said that letting some people and not other is discrimination and was the told to "have a good time or get out". Not only is this bad service, it's illegal to have inconsistent dress code policies. It gets better (or worse depending on your sense of humor). When my friend was turned away for wearing the white v neck t shirt he was told by security to get another shirt and they told him to try the clothing store next door which is called God is Dope. Mind you this occurred around 12:30am on Saturday (I.e. late on a Friday night). The clothing store God is Dope was open past midnight which is very strange. After getting into the argument with security and leaving Mother's around 1am I reconnected with my friend. He told me that when he went into the next-door clothing store he was solicited to buy cocaine. I don't know if there's a connection between the four security guards outside of mothers who recommended my friend go into the store next door or not but it seems extremely fishy, and regardless my friend was turned away based on an inconsistently enforced dress code. I'd love to talk to management about this (as I'm also talking to police about the matter) and I have pictures, albeit blurry, of all 4 security guards who were outside of Mother's last night.

Ohh and I have one more thing to mention. On a previous visit during spring 2015 I was over charged here at Mother's. I was charged an extra $10 dollars on my bill. Luckily i had a copy of the receipt so fraud protection at my bank removed the charge. I posted a negative review on fb and the manager told me they would fix it but I had already had the charge reversed. If you look on Mother's Facebook page there are 64 reviews and around 10 reviewers all say they were overcharged. The majority of reviewers who claim they were overcharged all say they were overcharged the same $10. No, this is not a holding fee as multie people said after waiting a few days to see if the charge would disappear they were charged an additional time. I'm calling visa and Mastercard tommorow to discuss the consistent complaints about Mother's.

Re: “Pricey Atlanta state House race attracts more than $400k

So Brown showing up at events forgives her horrendous, factually wrong and gutter-level smear-tactic campaign literature?

Brown apparently didn't know that the "Georgia Power" donation that she accused Dreyer of lying about came from his friend, neighbor and colleague on the Grant Park Conservancy Board? Dreyer is the outgoing GPC leader, the donation came from the incoming GPC leader. Brown is clueless about this? Why, if she's so "engaged" in our neighborhoods?

BTW, knocks on our door over the past months: Dreyer = 3, Brown = 0

I enjoy making fun of the gentrifying hipsters in O4W as much as anyone.

"The account features a colorful abundance of street art, businesses, shops, and overwhelmingly white residents indulging in the culture of the historic neighborhood."

Does anyone remember O4W culture from the 1990's?

Ah, the Pizza Hut and Strawberry Kiwi MD 20/20 from Chevron on the way to foam night at the Masquerade!

CL is a junk media, it used to pride itself on being a balanced news outlet when Jill Hannity was editor, CL was factual correct and well balanced... now it's just junk and half the shit written is junk... full of holes in their stories and just plain lazy journalism.... and Debbie is pretty shitty at her job as editor..
