AUGUST 23, 2012, 1:48 P.M., SIG SAMUEL’S DRY CLEANING CO. ON MONROE AVENUE: An employee grabs a hanger for a crisply pressed shirt. This place was a dream to photograph. The front is your typical, well-kept dry-cleaner space, but behind the scenes in the back of the sprawling workspace, you’re transported into what feels like some sort of Terry Gilliam-directed dystopian future. Steam hisses and rises from loud machines that kachunk back and forth. Crisp, colorful clothes slowly slide along a conveyor belt that lines the brown walls. Everyone at the establishment seemed happy to be there, with some loyally working at the family-owned business for more than 20 years.
