Atlanta coffee was nothing but perked dishwater until Aurora Coffee opened in 1992. The L5P location and its Va-Hi sister shop [that location closed in May 2013] weren't designed as cozy hangouts. Since the folks who own Criminal Records took over, however, the cool-slacker service has gotten friendlier and there is Wi-Fi. The quality of the brew -- Aurora's blend of beans from Batdorf & Bronson's Atlanta roastery -- is exceptional. Food is limited to excellent fresh pastries.
This quirky artist's market is full of local artwork and unique tchotchkes. It's a perfect diversion for diners on the waiting list at the Flying Biscuit a few doors down.
The back half of this mellow shop has a righteous selection of blown-glass pipes, gnarly bongs, and wicked water pipes. Dude, we just realized what 420 means!
