Re: “Taxi companies: Uber and Lyft are not above the law

I do not know what is all this fuss about? I have been using Limo service and Taxi service for at least two decades, if I needed A limo service I call one like Atlantic Limo or Cooper they have been here for ages, you ride with style. On the other hand i have used a Taxi service for years too my experience is you get what you pay for. I have had good experiences and bad ones with both of them that's normal with any kind of business, sometimes I even have good and bad experiences with the airlines too, sometimes the flight is delayed canceled late too expensive or an annoyed smelly person seating next to me. Sometimes my steak is not as I wanted to be, I learned through the years that life is not as we expected to be,it is what we make of it. If it's not broke don't fix it.

All I wanna know what is uber? Who are they trying to replace? Take over/down? Taxis? Limousines? Atlanta have them all, we have and had Limousine companies in Atlanta for decades and there are so many of them, you could create an account with them pay cash or credit, they are and have been regulated and adhere to all city and state Laws and ordinances we have and had Taxi companies for decades too and they are everywhere too, I have never had a problem with them, I travel quiet a lot and I use them both, actually sometimes I am rude to them and talk down to them especially when I have had a long stressful day at work or when I am drunk too. But life goes on.

Sometimes my Ego boasting personality gets out of way and don't treat people equally, we shouldn't forget that we are a nation of immigrants we all came from somewhere, we should have a sense of compassion respect and equality.

I have taken uber too, most of the uber drivers are Ex Cabbies, and I have given directions quiet a few times to Limo drivers and Cab drivers too, there is nothing wrong with that to help each other no big deal.

All I can say, this is an other form of savage/greedy capitalism, all in the name of "customer service" or everybody is looking out for the "American People" "free Market", BS everyone is looking out for their profits "Money" this is the bottom line..

Re: “Atlanta's taxi industry declares war on Uber, Lyft

Cabs in Atlanta are inspected once every 6 months, the Taxi-Cab can not be older than 8 years old, taxi drivers get their permits MVR criminal background checked and have their fingerprints taken each year plus their meters are inspected twice a year too, plus Taxi rates are voted for by Atlanta city counsel; while Uber Uber-X Lyft don't, so for your safety you don't have to worry, for the past 23 years I have lived in Atlanta no single criminal incident was committed by any cab driver, till this past December 2013, two incidents against Female customers were reported, two Sexual Assaults committed by Uber drivers.
Uber is a money monger broker firm, they are not abiding by any Laws that's why they have lawsuits against them all over the world, they are not licensed by any state they just take over businesses that's been built years ago, if they really care for customers and drivers they should not take %20 commission from the hard working drivers, they should sell that app to companies or drivers, no royalties.
Uber-X drivers don't have permits, or commercial insurance, don't go through any criminal background checks that cab drivers go through every year, vehicles don't get inspected by city/state officers like cabbies do each year, and the list go on.
Limousines don't suppose to have any devices that act like a meter to figure the fare at the end of the trip, but the fare have to be agreed upon before hand in other words pre arranged, otherwise they are Taxis because the word Taxi reflects a Meter, and the price of a Cab ride is determined at the end of the trip unless it's a flat fare zone/trip.
Uber, Uber-X, and Lyft are stealing from cabbies they are not competing with cabbies, if they are Taxis then they have to abide by the rules regulations and Laws that govern Taxis, and on the other hand if they are Limousines then they have to abide by the regulations of a Limousine.
Which one are they Limousines or Taxis???

Re: “The Gold Dome bill to regulate Uber and Lyft has been introduced and it's a doozy

Atlanta is not a cab city first of all we are not like New York, we are not facing transportation problems that we need a hand out from outsiders claiming they have a new technologies. These UBER is a broker unethical company taking business from other that spent years building. They are not licensed by the state or any local government their vehicles are not inspected their drivers don't go under criminal background checks they came up with their own fare structure unlike Taxis their fares are voted by the city council. Loyalty is a Value
