The problem is cops have shot dogs on the DOG'S property. An officer doesn't have the right to enter private property without a warrant, and then shoot and kill a dog when it barks at them. I want my dogs to bark when a gun wielding intruder trespasses in my yard. Just like the Darrin Stephens fellow who shows ignorance and fear of dogs because he wasn't raised to know any better... there are cops like this who shoot and kill because they simply don't like dogs and they know they can. Most of these stories show dogs weren't even showing aggression. They happen every day:

Beyond all this, pepper spray works just as well, and no one dies. Dogs can't breathe when pepper sprayed, the last thing they think about is biting someone. Pepper spray should be standard, and lethal force as a last resort... for dogs and humans.
