Re: “300: Go tell the Spartans

Hey Alex Averre, you call 1500-1821 "most" of Greek history huh? I think its about 321 years my ignorant American self. Maybe some of you Europeans could have accompanied the original 300 and just surrendered out of the gate. You guys seem to prefer that approach these days. Hell even your ancestors waited TWICE for muslims to show up at their door before fighting back. Even then, you needed France (1rst Crusade) then England(WW1) to do it for you. We in the States prefer not to wait for that, so don't bother joining us at the movies. Spain will need your advice soon enough if you would stop reading the daily KOS and getting your news from Jon Stewart. Read some muslim papers, they can't wait to show their cards. I must say the truth, a millenium of Greek culture is preferable to Persian. That is exactly what their sacrifice gave us. It did save the West and you have no excuse for not knowing it. Your father failed you, I am indeed sorry for you my friend.

Re: “300: Go tell the Spartans

I love you Spartan woman. I am American, but my heritage Italian. Your ancestors saved the West when my Roman Grandfathers were just Latin River Monkeys. Without the sacrifice of Greece time and again there would be no America or any other Western power today. ZITO I ELLAS!

Re: “300: Go tell the Spartans

He writes "The only truly troubling thing about 300 is its contemporary context. At a time of U.S. war in the Middle East, the film's portrayal of hawkish "white" Greeks against exotic Asians feels insensitive at best. You can easily imagine 300 being used as the best military recruitment film ever, lacking only a coda like, "Did you know that Persia is now called Iran? Let's invade Tehran and kick ass like Spartans!" In the wrong hands, 300 could be a lethal weapon." Yes. I hate the comic book movies, but I have seen 300 twice already, just to give them my money for the soldiers it will provide America's future. I could not have written better Pro-Western propaganda if I tried. I notice he has read some history in between issues of Time magazine and doses of NPR. See, he notes Persia as ancient Iran, but says in a line earlier 300 is "insensitive". Insensitve to the country who says Israel should be wiped off the map? Liberals cannot help but show their cards. He says "contemporary context" I challenge him to find ONE era of history that the "persian & arab" culture, sans Isalm or with, have NOT been attacking, enslaving, even pirating the Western world. The "context" is contemporary because it has never stopped since history started being written. We ARE at war with IRAN for at least one year now. Fat guys in ties declaring it for NPR do not a war make. Iran using bribed agents (Amhed Challabi) and giving equiptment to guerillas is war liberals. Face reality. And yes, despite your best efforts and any military setback the left forces on us, we will kick their asses. And then, America will kick your "asses", once again, out of congress.
