Re: “City withdraws support for homeless shelter

What ever happened to the Mayor Franklin's Gateway plan that was to coordinate services? When Shirley Franklin was first running for mayor (pre big flower days) she promised true compassion for the homeless and addicted. I remember a Gravedigger show in particular. Now, some of my homeless and addicted friends wonder: Where Is the Beef?Supposedly the Gateway program has spent millions. But I can't find any sort of comprehensive report on the supposedly comprehensive system Shirly Franklin promised. As for now, there has to be a place of last resort like Pine Street -- because all the better solutions don't nearly meet the numbers and types of people in need. It is not an "either" / "or" situation. Atlanta needs transitional facilities and shelters.

Re: “Shake-up

With 400+ reporters and editors the AJC hasn't managed to exactly provide wall to wall coverage of Atlanta's No. 1 story -- the Kathryn Johnston’s shooting. In fact, its non-continuing coverage has been most notable by its absence. Even one or two reporters could have come up with more. Here is a story the AJC should have "owned" as much as it "owned" the story of James Brown's death.
