I'm a server at Ri Ra so I'm probably more than a little biased in my opinion of the restaurant. One thing that sorta bothered me about the review was the comment about the Disneyesque quality of the bar--I think its absolutely gorgeous. At the moment around 9, and in a couple of weeks, at least 12 of the servers or bar tenders employed at Ri Ra are here for the summer or year from Ireland. One of the things they exclaimed several times on entering the bar was the authentic feel it had. This is actually how a lot of the Victorian bars look in Ireland. Yes, there are a lot of potatoes dishes and side dishes but hey, its an Irish pub, what did you expect? But I do hope you enjoyed the visit and join the growing crowd of regulars we already have there.
To jump on the band wagon, yes! The Avett Brothers are amazing. Their live shows are indescribable but they will blow your mind.
I had the privilege to recently see VW in Birmingham (the Atlanta venue was 21 and up) and because I got there early enough, I ran into them throwing around a baseball behind the venue (a cool, but literal s*** hole) and they were extremely cool and down-to-earth people although the place wasn't the nicest. Who cares where they come from, the songs are good, the concert was amazing, and it shouldn't matter where they come from.
