Re: “Deliverance turns 40

I'm one of those who has taken advantage of the rafting outfitters now existing along the Chattooga, benefiting from the film's portrayal of a most beautiful river, and it is a treacherous ride indeed.

Despite the rape, despite the psychological torment Voight's character endures, the film immerses the viewer in nature. Watch it while listening through headphones some time. Listen to those insects and birds. And the sound of the water always rushing. It's a gorgeous and layered film, and better than the book, in my humble opinion. It's also a movie which challenges the concepts of what it means to be a man, so for this woman, it's rather fascinating. Can't wait to see it at The Fox.

Re: “Save yourselves! Our list of the scariest movies EVER

All I remember about "Event Horizon" was I could barely function for several hours after it ended. It STICKS. I'd consider seeing it again, but I'm skeered!

Re: “Late-night magic at MJQ: An oral history, Part I

I'll never forget the early days in the Ponce Hotel basement - totally unique vibe - loved the kung fu movies and the dark and cozy dance floor. Ahhh... memories.

Re: “30 years of the good, the bad and the weird-as-hell

Thanks for this list. I've been in Atlantatropolis since my family moved here from Illinois around '66, when I was but a wee lass. We used to go to the Polaris Lounge for fun on weekends, and I'd get Shirley Temples. Years later I saw many a show at Moonshadow and L5P Pub, practically lived at the Omni, and worked at Oxford Books for about 4 years. Ahhhh, memories. And now? Garden Hills is closed too. Hopefully the Fox Theatre will always be around.

There's always the fine Chinese vegetarian Green Sprout across Piedmont.

Why can't you capitalize numbers? Exactly.

Re: “Spice Market: Posh Spice

"I spent a whole evening trying to figure out how it's possible to work an entire shift wearing no bra."

You're kidding, right? Some women go entire days and nights without brassieres strapped around their chests. It is completely and fantastically possible.
