Re: “Sober

Today I'm sitting in a restaurant trying to down some food to quiet my queasy insides after bindge-drinking Coronas and lime last night.

Picking at the food, I turn to your article and give up on the nourishment.

I may not be as severe an alcoholic as you were, Thomas, but I am on my way. Your story has made me realize that I have some changes of my own I must make before I reach the bottom of the hole I am drinking myself into and slowly killing my body.

There is a history of alcohol and drug abuse on both sides of my family, but over and above the addictive tendencies - WHY I am doing it is something I really need to face with the person in the mirror.

Thanks for opening my eyes to the seriousness of my own personal situation. I thought I was a "social drinker" until I began to prefer my own company and privacy of my home instead of the bar and my friends.

Keep up the good work staying sober and I hope to join you in that more healthful state of mind and body soon.
