As a fellow journlism grad from UGA and a broadcast journalist for almost fifty years and most important, a former drunk, I relate so much to Thomas's story. Now sober for 26 years, I can affirm that life after the slow-death of suicide is awesome. Once I admitted my powerlessness over alcohol and the total unmanagability of my life, a group of wonderful people shared their simple set of twelve tools and showed me now to live. I can affirm after all these years sober that it's still getting better every day in every way. Not only that, these wonderful friends have become a new family for me and they are there for me through every trial and tribulation that life brings my way.
