Re: “Atlanta punk! A reunion for 688 and Metroplex

Nothing was like the early 80's in Atlanta from Jeffery Lee Pierce of the Gun Club Halloween Night telling me and some buddies his band was trying to kill him or experiencing the raw energy of Black Flag and a skinny Henry Rollins.

The Ramones at the Agora, X and Jimmy and the Mustangs from LA at the Agora as well as the Ramones and not to forget Wendy O Williams doing 3 shows at the Agora Ballroom.

The 688 was an awesome venue to see these Bands that we were listening to Dead Kennedys, Circle Jerks, Bad Brains to Local favorites Guadalcanal Diary and Murray Attway with Jeff Walls and Rhett on Bass ahhh Good Times
Athens was going good as well the 40 Watt Club, Pylon, REM, B52's Love Tractor. Atlanta was THE PLACE in its day for sure.

I miss those days and think about it every time I ride by the building where the 688 stood in its Glory. If anyone is interested I have my pics of Black Flag and the Gun Club posted on MYSPACE at the 688 Spot.

Anyone remember the RIOT outside the Fox Theater when the CLASH played? And Chris Wood of the Restraints was protesting their as well. Then ACDC at the AGORA for 2 Nights in 79 Freaking Awesome.
