I worked 20 years in AJC's production department and I too blame Cox management for AJC’s demise but I disagree with Mr. Sugg’s reasoning. Newspapers are doomed because the cost of newsprint, labor, and energy make it impossible for them to compete against electronic forms of communication. And they have only themselves to blame because of their untenable support for all things liberal. Don’t let Mr. Sugg’s “Nixon Derangement Syndrome” fool you. AJC’s Stalinist purge of moderate and conservative journalist ended years ago. It doesn’t matter how many left-wing purporters AJC employees, it’s WHO buys newspapers that’s important. Liberals may be great at throwing other people’s money around but they’re pretty stingy with their own money. Liberals don’t buy newspapers because they’re cheap and advertisers aren’t stupid! So why does AJC continue to pander to people who don’t buy newspapers?
