The population splurged to the north in the last two decades. But, now the population is shifting to infill intown and the other areas that have a lot of less expensive land available. Cost of new stadium: $672 million (which means $1.2 billion).
Cost to renovate Turner Field: $150 million. Cost to build streetcar line from Five Points to Turner Field $25 million per mile x 1.6 miles: $40 million. That gives us a renovated stadium with rail transit for under $200 million. The other $500 million could build an amazing new city around Turner Field, connecting the area to downtown.
