This particular Homeless Shelter is really distorying a potential tax base for Atlanta. I live North and Peachtree, and see panhandlers on every corner, 24-7. I cannot go for a walk, to the store or leave my bldg w/o being approach for money. The facility would better serve Atlanta and the homeless if it would relocate.
Mostly, it bothers me that "some" panhandlers think that they're entitled to something. And, the few distroy it for those who really need help. The best thing that can happen, is for them to sell the bldg, and use the proceeds to find a better bldg with qualified personnel in a more suitable location. Most people are not going to support this shelter in its current form.
The current bldg is an eye sore, discourages visitors from coming into the downtown/midtown area as well as merchants and developers. Chicago and NYC are the perfect examples of protecting the city's tax base and convention areas. IMO, Anita Beaty needs a new model for her homeless shelter. Right now, she's the problem!!!
