Re: “Profile: Rev. Mark Sargent

Listening to Mark Sargent this morning condemn the notion of any necessary atonement by Christ on the cross reminded me just how deleterious postmodernism is. In a relative sense, it is almost inconsequential that he openly embraces the homosexual lifestyle as equal to heterosexuality. Christ came to earth for one and only one reason - the redemption of mankind through his sacrifice (Matt. 26:28-29; Mark 10:45). You will not hear this message from Mr. Sargent.

As to homosexuality, its condemnation by God is rooted in the one man and one woman of Genesis 1-3 and is replete in scripture's teaching (Romans 1:26-27; 1 Cor. 6:9; 1 Tim. 1:10.) It is hardly significant that Jesus did not directly mention it directly since theology was not his purpose on earth. He left that to the writers of NT theology (Paul; Peter; the writer of Hebrews, James and John. He did, however, embrace heterosexual marriage in Matt. 19:1-12 as the norm established in creation. Postmodernism is what many itching ears want to hear - that sin is an illusion, all religions and all cultures are equal, and that truth is relative to the nation, culture, tribe or household. But, sin exists and it condemns, and the Mark Sargent's of this world can only claim their rightful place in Christianity by admitting it and seeking the only reconciliation before God by way of Christ alone.
