Re: “Atlanta according to Darin Givens

You can get anywhere in Atlanta with the combination of MARTA and a bike. I do it everyday.

Re: “First Slice 6/25/2015: Beltline streetcar vision gets pushback from Council

@faulty logic. Here are the two street routes they are considering when expanding the streetcar to the Beltline. It does not include rebuilding the Edgewood bridge.

Re: “First Slice 5/7/15: Plan to build 50 more miles of Atlanta Streetcar lines unveiled

Streetcar expansion on the Beltline will be a lot less expensive. Especially on the Eastside trail that already had the streetcar utilities put in during the construction of the trail.

Re: “O4W's Howard school could be renovated, another school razed as part of APS plan

@20yr APSer
"Altho I've heard snarks that the grandmas will still have a bevy of grandchildren under their wings, I personally think the units will be a bit too small for that."

Not so. Wingate has said many times during presentation to O4W neighborhood meetings that the new senior building, currently under construction, will not allow children/teens to live there.

Also regarding Hope Hill Elementary. Last year it had the highest increase of test scores of any school in the APS system. Almost a 20% increase. Sure they were starting from the bottom, but they are making great progress. They have an awesome new principal and you are now seeing new kids being enrolled that come from different economic backgrounds than those from just Bedford Pines. In other words, new residents in the O4W are sending their kids to Hope Hill.

Re: “Lawmakers strike transportation deal that raises cash for roads, cuts airline and electric car tax credits

I love living in Atlanta. Hate living in Georgia.

Re: “Development wants, development gets

We will never have true affordable housing if Atlanta holds onto these outdated minimum parking requirements. These new apartment buildings with there massive parking decks constitute %25 - %35 of your rent payment. Even if you don't have a car. But developers are forced to build them by Atlanta zoning laws. Why do we need all this parking along the Beltline?
