Re: “Grindhouse Killer Burgers

Man I was so excited about the Apache, but it was a total disappointment for me. THe onions and jalepenos were great, but the patty was kinda dry and the cheese was absolutely flavorless. If I'm going to blow a bunch of calories on a burger, I want the flavor to really pack a punch, but instead it was pretty boring.

The chili cheese fries are amazing though.

Re: “Delia's Chicken Sausage Stand

I actually like the bbq sauce with the grape jelly. It reminds me of old cocktail weenie recipes.
That being said, I think some tweaking needs to happen at this place. It's got a lot of great things going for it. It's hip. It's open late. It has basically no competitors in an area that is packed with hungry, drunken, 20 and 30 somethings every weekend.
I SO agree with you about the sour cream cheese. Pure nast indeed. It's decisions like that, that I think are holding this place back. Trying to over gourmet something, or not taking into account the taste preferences of most people. Hopefully the menu will grow and change in the future. At the base of it, they're creating an entire menu around sausage that is kinda meh for me.

Oh, and the cheese sauce would be better if it were just velveeta. It's pretty bland. Again, most people just want a good ole fatty cheese sauce, not something that's gritty and beer flavored. And with the overly starchy and giant wedgies, it's just not satisfying far that late night binge.

I LOVE the cake shakes, but they are a little hard to finish because they are so rich.

I'll have to try the mother clucker. I'm looking forward to it.

Re: “Cheap Eats: Dough in a Box

I hear a lot of Krispy Kreme hate from foodies. Alton Brown, especially, bad mouths them all the time on his show. I think the problem with Krispy Kreme is that they aren't really donuts. When you want a bready, yeasty, big ole donut, I can totally see Krispy Kremes not cutting it. That being said, they're good. They're really good. They're really good in a totally objective way. It's kind of like a Canadian complaining that our chili cheese fries aren't very good poutine. They're not supposed to be good poutine, but they are freaking delicious. Maybe Krispy Kremes more akin to beignets, or funnel cake, or what angels eat for breakfast. I don't know, but I'm kind of tired of the Krispy Kreme hate, especially since it seems to be "in" right now.

Re: “Frozen yogurt

There's also Yogurt Tap. Went there today. The raspberry was great. Very yogurty flavor, though. And they had cereal you could put on top!
