Maybe Beverly Hall thinks it's 1958, pre Hawaii statehood, and assumes she can request asylum. I'd say 1958 is about the last time she had any credibility. Hope Maui is big enough for her AND her former deputy superintendent Kathy Augustine. Sounds like Augustine will be taking a perp flight soon.
The administration has, in fact, proposed to cut off the small remaining amount of city funding ($150,000 or so) for security in Piedmont Park. Placing the burden for security on a non-profit organization like the Piedmont Park Conservancy for city-organized events like Screen on the Green seems unfair. Maybe the Conservancy can start billing the city for hiring off-duty police for the screenings!
Scott: Please file a Freedom of Information Act request and find out how much taxpayer $ is now going into funding Stephanie's salary and benefits! How expensive is this new City streetwalker?
Stephanie is now completely compromised. She has always been pathologically fascinated by elected officials. Hopefully, she understands that it was the mayor and his team who placed pressure on The Sunday Paper to get her FIRED from The Sunday Paper just a few months ago. Let's see: He hired David Bennett from the AJC to keep him in line; now Stephanie. At this point, there is NO ONE in the print media to ask the tough questions.
For truly giving a shit at city hall. Unlike the vast majority of my colleagues, most of whom don't even live in the city.
I think the mayor is doing a good job. Before he spends too many more hours in the national media, though, I wish he'd turn his attention to the basics of constituent services. People calling the city are being put on hold for too long; people emailing the city are waiting too long for a reply; no one can track the status of their complaints; and the city's public works department seems ripe for a complete overhaul, with absolutely everyone needing to lose their job.
At least some of the "artists" who have been trespassing and tagging City Hall East have been white teenagers on a lark from Virginia-Highland, Poncey-Highland, and Inman Park. We know this because they've been caught, arrested while peeing in their pants, and returned to their mortified parents. These are the offspring of a generation of white liberal "activists" who made sure that Freedom Parkway destroyed the historical integrity of the Old Fourth Ward while doing nothing to touch the sanctity of their own "home" neighborhoods. The struggle continues...
