Re: “Dance: Shen Yun

Wish it had been "light on political pandering and heavy on whimsical artistry". The "ballet" of jack-booted thugs with the hammer and sickle insignia on their backs beating a female Falung Gong practitioner to death kind of put the kibosh on that idea.

We burned a Friday night watching a performance that, with rare exception, consisted of trite and repetitive choreography driven by out-of-tune musical accompaniment.

The mediocrity of the event, however, was overshadowed by the fact that this is nothing more than a propaganda machine for the Falung Gong. (Not that there's anything wrong with that. I just don't like being tricked into sitting through what amounts to an indoctrination session-- much less paying for the privilege.)

Special thanks to the Cobb Energy Centre for being "less than forthright" on the purpose of the show...
